SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

SOURCE: polaroid a300 camera is saying sd protected

Well, make sure you have checked the small gray tab on the left side of the sd card. It needs to be in the unlocked position. Too bad for me, because i have the same problem and my sd card isn't locked...

SOURCE: memory card is write protected

Take your memory card out of the camera and switch the position of the little "lock" tab. That should fix it and you can start saving images.

SOURCE: my Coolplix L18 wont let me do nothing

Hi

Take the memory card out of the camera.
You will see a small switch on the card (it is the lock switch)
Slide it to the opposite side and there you go!

It's easy to accidentally lock your card without even knowing it.
lol my mom just had this exact same problem and it was driving her crazy (she too didn't realize the card had a physical lock switch)

Have funn,
Bye

What does card protected mean?

Wheb you have a SD, SDHC or SDXC memory card and you put the switch to the lock position, the card is protected, That means nothing can change the files that are stored on the card. Not by wiring, not by deleting and not by formatting. Keep the lock with up, towards the golden connection points.
On the picture the 64 GB card is unlocked. `the 32 GB card is locked 8ab871eb-243a-48dd-a8d8-58e5df95d568.jpg

SD card have a switch on the side for write protection. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

My daughter has a vivicam 5022 and when i put the memory card into it, it says card locked and wont take any pictures how do i unlock the card?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position nearest the contacts enables writing, the opposite position protects or locks it. Try sliding it fully to the locked position and then fully to the unlocked position. If that doesn't work, try a different card.
