Can a stacked washer/dryer be separated for moving?

Model#: 970-90802-20 Serial#: XE14900424 Hello, I am just wondering whether it is possible to separate, without an unreasonable amount of effort, the washer and dryer components of a stacked wahser/dryer of the above model type? Or are they not meant to be so disconnected, such that it would be better to move them as is? Thanks!

SOURCE: How to stack w/d gas Frigidaire Gallery dryer

You are supposed to remove the top of the washer, and the dryer feet lock into brackets...but being lazy I just bolted the dryer to the washer using some metal straps (1/16" x 8 x 4 ") with some machine screws, and it's been fine for years. Not pretty, but I had the same question and no handy internet to help me at the time ;P

SOURCE: Whrilpool washer/dryer stack the dryer doesn't get hot

You will find that the drier wont get hot because the timer is not forwarding onto the heating part of the cycle. Possibly if you click one click at a time, you will possibly get to the heating part of the cycle but its not safe as it wont go any further. Install a new timer and you will be happier I'm sure.

How do you unstack a Bosch Axxis WTA dryer from a Bosch Axxis WFL 2050 washer?

You do not state the type of stacking kit installed on your Bosch washer. The installation instructions of one of the stacking kits is found at the site Assemby Instructions Bosch Axxis Stacking Kit /WTZ11310.pdf . First remove the front concealment strip to expose the front of the mounting kit. Gently pry with a wooden tool to prevent damage. Once the it is exposed, there are two clip inserts in front of the dryer feet that must be removed. Once these are removed, you pull or slide the dryer forward to release them from the stacking kit and simply lift the dryer off of the stacking kit and the washer. The stacking kit itself is attached to the washing machine with four screws that must be removed to separate the kit from the washer top. And with that, your dryer and washer are separated!

But after separation there are two additional problems that may be bothersome to you. The first is that you now have mounting holes in the top of the washer that are exposed and the second is that the feet on your dryer may need to be replaced as parts of the feet may have been tossed during installation of the stacking kit and may need to be replaced.

The assembly instructions above show only the basic stacking kit. Some kits included a slide that pulls out to allow for a handy tray but the installation or disassembly is nearly the same.

How do i re attach the top of the washer after un stacking?

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

If you could provide me the model number for your washer and dryer I can research to see if any additional information is available regarding the stack kit. You can usually locate the serial tag (which lists the model number) on the door frame of both the washer and dryer. I look forward to assisting you. -Matt

Can a front load washer be stacked on top of a front load dryer?

Normally, the front loading machines come with a special stacking kit (that may be available separately). Now I wonder why one would put the washer on top! Most of the time the washer is put at the bottom making it easier for plumbing. Secondly, in case of a large spill, it would be safer to have the dryer on top due to the power required for the heating elements. I would therefore not recommend putting the washer on top even if that might be possible to do so...

Frigidaire FEX831CS Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer dryer won't start

Hello - Try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and start normal cycle. If this proves to be ineffective, then contact a professional to move forward accurately. Possible causes could be a faulty power cord or house wiring, defective control board, thermal limiter or door switch.

How do I separate a stacked washer/dryer combo unit?

Tried this before and is a major undertaking. The front angle panel has to be removed before you can access the rear panel, and then all of the electrical connections need to be traced and disconnected. This is a job for a tech and not recommended. I would suggest you measure, and then measure again and find a way to remove it in one piece, maybe even out a window if one is big enough.

Stacked Maytag Neptune - Accessing Inertial imb/Upper tub disp Switches

The switches you are referring to are set-reset. These rarely have a fault. Normally the machine control board is the faulty component. How did you determine that these switches are faulty ?

The safest way to access the upper portion of the washer is to remove the dryer. Another method is to remove the "complete" washer front and the control panel. This will give you access to the top of the washer tub.
