Question about Canon PIXMA iP90v Printer
Cleaning multiple times does nothing, nor adding a different cartridge.
Remove the cartridges and press the end with the ink sponges onto a paper towel. If you see ink on the towel, insert the cartridges and run the cleaning 3-7 times. This will use up some ink, but is the only way to resolve this issue. If you continue to see improvement in the prints, continue to clean until quality is acceptable.

Have you performed a nozzle test? If one or more of the colors is missing when you do the nozzle test, the printhead itself is likely in need of replacement.
Before considering replacment, perform a clean on the printer. Due to variations between mac and pc, please see your documentation / support files on how to perform the clean on your printer.
After performing the clean, again perform the nozzle check to see if the problem is resolved.
If still not resolved, remove and re-install any cartridges you recently replaced to make certain they are installed correctly.

SOURCE: IP90 stopped printing black
I switched to composite black, then back to all black. After composite black printed out, then all black was ok. It was a software problem, not a hardware problem. Try this first! Mike from Burlingame

If you don't use it very often the black could have dried in the printhead, and you will need a new one. Another possibility is that the purge unit is not cleaning and priming the printhead properly. I have seen several defective purge units. For 1 year it can be replaced under warranty, after that it is a $90.00 repair job in the shop.
