Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have a Sony Blu-ray/DVD player BDP-S3100 and my netflix wasnt loading at all wouldn't even try so i checked the wifi connection and said it was connected but not even other random internet things on there would initialize and load like it does usually so i went into my settings and tried to disconnect wifi and start over but couldn't find where. So i seen reset to factory default settings, i figured "do that" since the only thing i changed since i bought it was putting my wifi info in there. Wrong! After i clicked the button everything went black and said "Format Not Supported" and i can't do ANYTHING. on it and the buttons don't work on the remote either. I unplugged the player for a while and tried again, still the same thing. Can't even play movies. Is there ANYTHING i can do to fix it? I mean it even says in the manuel about resetting the default settings and that it just resets it not reformats or unformats or whatever you wanna say that happened. Any help.is appreciated we just got this for our son for his birthday to watch netflix and i feel horrible i broke it.

Try the following:

  • Check that all the connecting cables are securely connected
  • Switch the input selector on your TV to display the signal from the player.
  • Reset the [Output Video Resolution] to the lowest resolution by pressing and HOLDING the button with the square symbol on the front of the player and for more than 10 seconds.

Try to unplug it for awhile and then plug it in. It may need a software update.

SOURCE: Incompatible Disc in Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-Ray Disc Player

I had the exact same problem as you did... I bought the Sharp Aquos 42D85X which came with Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-ray Disc player. could not get brand new blu-ray movies to play and i found it froze everytime after 10 secs. I phoned sharp who basically were no help watsoever! I then went and returned my blu-ray movies back to the store thinking it was a problem with the discs.. The people there were extremely nice and since they had a display model of the BD-HP21X instore they offered to test the movie on it to veroify whether it was the blu-ray player was the problem or not. Turns out its a fault with all of the BD-HP21X models. So we then ended up returning it back to the store we bought it and exchanged it with the older model (BD-HP20X). I now have no problems playing blu-ray movies. Although another suggestion is to perhaps download the lastest firmware update & see if that resolves your issues.

SOURCE: our blu-ray disc player bdp-s300 won't play newest blu-ray

You will need the following:
1) Internet connection
2) Wired router
3) long enough ethernet cable to reach from your blue ray player to the router.

Step 1:
Eject any disks and turn off the blu-ray player by unplugging it.

Step 2:
Attach the ethernet cable to the router and the other end to the ethernet port on the back of the blu-ray player.

Step 3:
Turn on the blu-ray player and wait for it to load all the way.

Step 4:
Using the remote, arrow over to the left to "Setup", the up to "Network Update".

Step 5:
After the unit updates and restarts, repeat until it tells you "Already Updated".

That should help you play the newer movies, and even some of the older ones.

Where is the streaming wi fi an pin located on player

When you want to use a specific service, go into the box and select the service (such as Netflix). When you do so, it will display a number or number/character string that you type into the service, via your PC or whatever you use to access the network. If you want Netflix, you would go to the Netflix site and pick devices (if I remember right) and then it asks for you to enter the number. That's how it knows who's box is connected and assocites it to your account.
