Hello,

The black roll thing is the fuser roller. If you have a label stuck to this unit them it will need to be replaced. The fuser roller that you see has a coating of teflon and if a label is stuck to it, the coating will be damaged when you try to pull off the label. The HP part number you need is RG9-1493. Check with your local printer repair shop for pricing, If they can't get you what you need check Ebay.com We have service manuals for his unit available for $6.95 for a download if you need one. The manual is at www.ccl-la.com/hplj3330.htm The service manuals have disassembly instructions, parts lists and troubleshooting tips.

After printing a label it advances too far wasting the next label

This is usually an indication that the label roll in the printer are too old. This action is by design, compatible labels should have a black rectangle on the reverse side and the Smart Label printer uses the black rectangle to orient the label. Remove the current roll, open a new boxed label roll, remove a sealed roll, cut open the sealed plastic, remove fresh label roll and load it in your Label Printer. Power the label printer back on and press the label advance button, it should correctly line up.

Can not reload lables in the gun

Depending on the type of gun that you have, loading will vary. Here is the most common style of label loading:
Loading
  • At the back of the pricing gun, there's an opening with two spindles to hold a roll of labels. There's also a slot and two small, black rollers, where you'll place the first label to begin feeding them into the gun.

Insert a roll of labels into the gun opening so that the beginning of the roll is at the back and comes up over the top of the gun. Insert the beginning of the roll into the slot, squeezing the trigger halfway. Push the labels through the gun until they come out at the front. Thread the labels up and under the black plate on the front of the gun and then under the rubber roller. Squeeze the trigger again and pull six or seven labels out. Discard the labels, leaving the paper backing. Thread the paper backing into the underside of the gun, next to the handle, in the direction indicated by the arrow. Push the paper backing while squeezing the trigger until the gun begins dispensing labels.ixzz18ERFHy

      Printing
    1. If the print on the labels is off-center, place a penny in the slot on the right side of the gun and hold it in place. Using another penny, turn the adjuster on the left side of the gun in a clockwise direction, printing test labels to check your correction. Keep turning the adjuster until the print is centered.

To replace the ink cartridge, turn the latch on the right side of the gun to an upright position. Pull the door out. The ink roller is on the end of the door in a plastic holder. Push the holder apart slightly to remove the old ink roller and insert a new one. Replace the door and turn the latch to hold it in place.

Were the new labels thermal paper? Thermal printers need specially made paper to work right.

Label stuck under typewriter platen/roller of Adler Royal

Roll a new piece of paper the best you can. Dribble a little paint thinner on the paper, letting it run down under the roller. The thinner will disolve the adhesive on the label. After a couple minutes, you should be able to roll out the paper and the laber with no problem.

I use direct thermal paper with a black mark at

Compare the 2 rolls, Pay close attention to the position ans size of the black mark. The black mark sensor in the zebra 2844 is not (where you would expect it to be) in the centre of the label. It is about 10mm to the right,

Try calibrating the printer to your labels.

Check my other solutions to see how to perform a manual calibration.

Remove a label stuck to the metal floater behind the pleten myself

Take a quarter piece of typing paper. Soak it in paint thinner. Roll this down where the label is stuck. The paint thinner will dissolve the adhesive on the label but will not harm anything in the typewriter.

    QL-550 Label Stuck

Normally theres a lever you pull (the same one you use to manually pull the labels through), if you pull that, you should be able to blow the label out, or pull it through.
