SOURCE: cannot figure how to set up Canon MP830 All in One Fax machine with remote answering machine

Cannot figure how to hook up Canon MP830 all in one fax with remote answering machine. I can plug in phone line to send faxes fine but when hooked up in same hole and the phone rings it goes immediately to fax and can't receive phone calls. Maybe i have phone line hooked up in wrong place on my machine. The answering machine is in our master bedroom on the other side of the house. With my last a canon also i had it hooked up to go to fax after a certain amount of rings and it worked fine. That machine got fried by lightening and i replaced it with this machine. If anyone knows what i am doing wrong i really need this fax hooked up all the time for my business.

SOURCE: Canon Pixma MX700

I had the same problem. Solution? I will sound stupid, but it worked for me. Check every phone cable. Unplug and replug it. I solved my problem by making my connections simpler. I think, one of my splitter was faulty.

I still not understand why. I tried to fax without any phones plug-on and it was not working neither.

I'm with "videotron.ca" for my phone line and I unplugged the line from the modem too, then replug it. Maybe it was just that!

A lot of people seem to have this problem. I called Canon twice and they made me change some setting in my printer but their solutions was not working. I put all the setting back to what they was and it still working now.

SOURCE: Repeated Fax TX report printing

Solution #3 solved it for me. The report kept printing over and over, so I used the menus (roughly) mentioned in Soluton #3 by guest.

My problem was the printer was trying to print the TX Error Report with the image attached. That made the report too big for standard sized paper, so the machine kept telling me to check the paper size, and I'd hit 'OK', and that made the machine try to print the report again, for it continued to think it had not printed a complete report.

Here's what I did...

Go to: Fax Menu
Arrow right ( >) to Maintenance/Settings, hit, 'OK'
Arrow right to (>) to Device Settings, hit 'OK',
Fax Settings, hit 'OK',
Arrow down ( v ) to TX Settings, hit 'OK',
Arrow down ( v ) to TX Report, OK
Select 'Print error only', hit 'OK',
Attach TX image, Select 'NO', hit 'OK"

With the instruction to not attach the TX image, it will print out the error report without the TX image, the report will fit on the paper, and it will clear this problem.

Good luck!

Canon mx922 when faxing erro tx report comes back result ng

Since you do not have a dial tone, please ensure that the line coming from your telephone source is plugged into the LINE jack on the unit. If you are connecting a telephone or answering machine to the unit as well, you will want to plug them into to the EXT jack on the unit. Please ensure that the unit is turned off when connecting the telephone line and telephone/answering machine to the unit. More information on connecting the lines and devices to your computer can be found
Once these items have been verified, if you still are unable to hear a dial tone when you press the HOOK button on the unit or are unable to send a fax, please call or email us using one of the methods on the page for further assistance.

How do I get a paper conformation for faxes on a cannon mx922

From page 98 of the fax users manual:
"This report is printed after each fax reception.
• At the time of purchase, the machine is set so that RX REPORT is not printed at all.
You can set the machine to print RX REPORT each time it receives a document, or only when an error occurs by selecting RX report in Auto print settings under FAX settings."

You should have the manual on the cd that came with the printer. If not try the link listed.

How to send fax? activity report shows MODE:tx g3 and resust shows:ng00ff

The result NG 00FF means that the machine has tried to send a fax and gone through it's 3 redials and ended up failing to transmit. You do not say if you can receive faxes?

1. Make sure the telephone line you are connected to will make an outgoing and an incoming call. try this with a good working telephone.
2. Make sure you are using the genuine canon telephone line lead.
3. Make sure the line lead is plugged into the LINE socket and NOT the TEL socket.
4. Press the HOOK button on the fax and you should hear the dial tone through the speaker.

If all the above works and is correct then the machiine has a problem but i doubt it as you are getting 00FF and if the machine was at fault you would get a different error.
I reckon the above should cure your problem.

Good luck.

How to fax?

This section describes dialing and sending faxes directly using the Numeric buttons.

note:
  • A PBX (Private Branch Exchange) is an on-site telephone switchboard. If your machine is connected through a PBX or other telephone switching systems, you have to dial the outside line access number first, and then the number of the party you are calling.

Fax is always busy when sending, have the line into the phone line port and into the telephone jack, fax scans and dials and even redials but it never go through, prints out receipt that says busy/no...

Has it always done this, or did Fax once work? Sadly, Windows XP Fax has many shortcomings, not the least of which is that it won't work with many modems still in common use. Modem incompatibility is not apparent during installation or the initial setup. It only becomes apparent when you try to send or receive a fax. The Fax Service will dial or will answer an incoming fax but then fail with any of a number of unhelpful error messages such as "Line is busy," "There is no answer," or "Reception error." There will be nothing in Event Viewer to give a clue as to where the problem might lie.

These errors have been nearly impossible to track down. To do so requires enabling both PSS and debug logging of fax transmissions, both of which require fairly extensive registry changes. For the time being, the best advice is to attempt to use XP Fax only if you have a modem that is listed on the Windows XP Hardware Compatibility List and using the latest drivers.

Hope helps.

We receive numerous complaints that the faxes we send do not go thru. Why if a line is busy does our request not go into a queue? any idea??

If the line is busy on the other end, your machine will put it in redial state and will try again. However, the redial function will depend on the setting how many try it will make. If the setting is 2 as an example, it will redial twice only and if it is still a failure it will treat the transaction as "NO" or "NG". You can check this in the transaction list of your machine. As you said, there are numerous complaint, check if the complaint is with the same receipient, if so most probably the end machine is having some problem. If from different destination please have your machine checked by the local service provider.
