The printer works fine from Windows including Scanner.When using photocopy from printer panel does not work.

If you are not getting any error messages, I suspect you definitely have a printer hardware problem, especially if it prints fine from Windows. Best to contact Canon's technical support with this one

SOURCE: All in One Scanner/Printer problems

Go to this link and type "cannot communicate with scanner" in the search box. Click Search. Then select the "ERROR: Cannot communicate with scanner" link. You will see several things to try to correct your problem. Usually, this error shows up if there is another USB device connected which prevents the computer from "seeing" the scanner, even though it can print without problem. So do try to disconnect any other USB device (except mouse or keyboard) and reboot the system.

SOURCE: mx700 will not scan even if the printer works well

You will need to download and install the vista driver for this to work on your vista computer. XP & Vista drivers are not the same and that is the reason it will work on the XP computer but not on the Vista computer. Driver should be available from the hardware manufacturers website. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: when trying to transfer photos printer was fine, then transferred everything on its memory even though we already had it then kept asking to load memorycard when it was already in wont acknowledge any

Power off the printer and wait for 2 minutes.
Power the printer back up and access it thru the PC controls software and try to print something that way.

What would make a printer only when making a copy or scanning put blue on paper? When printing its not there why?


The Dell 3115 (and Xerox 6180 multifunction, and Lexmark X560) all have a common problem with the INSIDE surface of the scanner platen attracting a deposit. This makes it a little 'cloudy' to look at, and produces a bluish tint to colour photocopies.

Print a test page from the printer that includes colours from all four cartridges. Then make 2 photocopies - one using the document feeder, and one using the flatbed. One may be better than the other - as a work-around.

The REAL solution is to clean the inside of the scanner platen (glass), but you must be very careful, otherwise you'll trash the printer. It is a very complex procedure to remove the scanner platen completely. It can (with great care) be lifted from the front, being very careful not to strain the cables. It can be cleaned successfully.

Scanner function does not appear to work. All


i would say possibly you are missing out on something..because if the other functions particularly photocopying are working then this should work..as in if the photocopying function works then the scanner is ok cause basically in photocopying the machine scans then prints... perhaps check whether you are correctly following procedure to scan..most hp all in ones have a button on them that you press and it automatically initiates scanning and simultaneously the software on the pc is initiated..try this,if not then try reinstalling the hp software..hope this helps..regards

Basically, you can use the scanner in two ways. Please open the scanner cover and place the document or image you want to scan face down.

1. Press the SCAN button (color button = color scanning, black button = monochrome scanning). then your scanner will scan the document or image in the scanner tray.

2. Go to the scanner program installed in your computer when you installed the printer. Open it and then click the command button SCAN.

Note: Make sure that you installed the Scanner software when you installed the printer. Without the software, your scanner will not work. Please reinstall the printer including the scanner software.

SmarThru Office can't see scanner (nor can word)


Windows is using Window's default scan driver, so it's working only within Windows scan wizard feature. You will need to install the Scan Driver separately to work with SmarThru and other software. The Scan Driver is available at Samsung website.

Do you get the same line when you use the adf for other purposes?

If so, check the scanner glass just before the platen for something like white-out on it. Clean both the scanner glass and platen glass with Windex.

That is a common problem on all ADF scanners.

Scanner problem


Try uninstalling and reinstalling the scannner. Scanner's can be tough. Try disconnecting USB cable and reconnecting too. How recently did the scanner work? Try reinstalling the scanner software/driver. Also see if you can trouble shoot by right clicking on scanner icon from control panel, scanner.

If you are still having problems and are running windows vista what I had to do was go to this web site http://www.samsung.com/me/products/printer/multifunction/scx_4100.asp?page=Specifications and click on drivers in the box at the top and there is a separate scanner driver that has to be installed for it o work it has fixed my problem..

you didn't describe your problem briefly. 1. Check if you photocopy anything, it is coming out correctly you are doing. it means your scanner is perfectly allright. 2. if you are not able to photocopy with this printer, it means your scanner is not working properly. But if it photocopying properly and in windows it is not scanning it means software is not working properly, try to arrange new software from anywhere and try.

The black printing usualy occurs when there is a faillure in the light, since your light is working fine, there may be a problem in the imaging device inside(camera) or the reflector. There is nothing wrong with the cartridge.
