SOURCE: my xbox disc tray will not close

The tray component gears were probably stripped and the tray is now shifted vertically to high or low. Because when the tray moves back and forth the inside eye set up moves into the disc to hold it. Solution Have X-Box fix you problem for around $80 or less. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They will send you a postage paid box. Also check to make sure nothing lose was in the xbox and also try to slam the door hard over and over as it try to slid in itself.

Xbox 360 door tray off track and will not close

First, do not attempt to try to fix it right away. Unplug every cable and adapter, so you only have the xbox 360 console. Then, if a video game disc is still in there, take it out. Next, try to determine what your disc tray is stuck on, and try to remove it carefully. If these steps do not work, look at these articles. My xbox keeps scratching all discs and wont play them.also tray is loose .when disc is in the screen says reading then makes a noise then says open tray

Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error” or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. A common problem that Xbox owners are reporting is if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.
Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally required to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

For further help on Xbox & Xbox 360 disc repairs, visit:

www.discREPAIR.ie

Check the “More Info” & “FAQ” Sections for further details on disc repairs and related matters.

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the discs is in play, the games console itself may require repair.
You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines.

Hope this Helps!!

Hi,the door for putting disc in wont open.every time i push the button there is noise comn from machine like its trying to open but it cant?

Hello,

This happens to me every now and then.
Here is how you can get around it:

Sometimes, you cannot open the disc tray on your Xbox 360 console by pressing the eject button. Any of the following things may cause this problem:
  • There is a hardware failure that affects the console, the disk drive, or the eject button.
  • A disc is lodged in the mechanism.
  • The clear protective plastic strip that is applied to the front of the tray to protect it during shipping is preventing the disc tray from opening.
To manually eject the disc from the disc tray, follow these steps:
  1. Unplug the power cord from your Xbox console. For more information about how to disconnect the power supply, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 906205 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906205/ ) How to connect and disconnect your Xbox 360 power supply
  2. Position your Xbox 360 console horizontally, as you would position a VCR or a stereo component.
  3. Remove the faceplate from your Xbox console. For more information about how to remove the console faceplate, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 907331 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907331/ ) How to attach or remove the faceplate on your Xbox 360 console
  4. Depending on the kind of disk drive that you have in your Xbox 360 console, you can use one of the following methods. Note In each case, make sure that you align the tool (a paper clip or stiff wire) to pass through another notch behind the hole on the console casing. Collapse this imageExpand this image906935.jpg
    • Method A: Insert a straightened paper clip or other small, stiff wire into the first hole from the left side of the disc tray. To release the disc tray, push the paper clip into the hole to press the manual eject mechanism. The manual eject mechanism is a white lever that is visible behind the console casing. The hole is located about 1.5 inches (approximately 4 centimeters) from the left edge of the disc tray.
    • Method B: Insert a straightened paper clip or other small, stiff wire into the second hole from the left side of the disc tray. Push the paper clip repeatedly into the hole to turn a gear to release the disc tray. The hole is located about 1.5 inches (approximately 4 centimeters) from the left edge of the disc tray.
    • Method C: Insert a straightened paper clip or other small, stiff wire into the hole that is directly under the "X3" logo on the Xbox 360 label on the disc tray to release the disc tray. The hole is located about 1 inch from the right edge of the disc tray.
  5. After you release the disc tray, the tray pops out slightly. You can pull the tray out the rest of the way to remove the disc. Note If you use method A or Method C in step 4, you may have to firmly press the disc eject mechanism to eject the disc tray.
  6. If you determine that a hardware failure has occurred that affects your Xbox console, contact Xbox Customer Support or submit a repair request for your Xbox 360 console.

Hope it helped.

Disc tray stuck closed

Is it making the noise like it will open then getting stuck? If so, this can be tricky! It happens with me sometimes. Press the open button and as it goes to try and open push the disc tray in slightly and up and it should pop open, it does with me anyway.

Depending on the type of disc drive that you have in your Xbox 360 console, use one of the following methods:

Method A: Insert a straightened paper clip or another small, stiff wire into the first hole from the left side of the disc tray. To release the disc tray, push the paperclip into the hole to press the manual eject mechanism. The manual eject mechanism is a white lever that is visible behind the console casing. The hole is located about one-and-a-half inches (approximately four centimeters) from the left edge of the disc tray.

Method B: Insert a straightened paper clip or another small, stiff wire into the second hole from the left side of the disc tray. Push the paperclip repeatedly into the hole to turn a gear to release the disc tray. The hole is located about one-and-a-half inches (approximately four centimeters) from the left edge of the disc tray.

Method C: Insert a straightened paper clip or another small, stiff wire into the into the hole that is directly under the "X3" in the Xbox 360 label on the disc tray to release the disc tray. The hole is located about one inch from the right edge of the disc tray.

In each case, make sure that you line up the paperclip or stiff wire to pass through another notch behind the hole on the console casing.
