Question about Acer ScanPremio 1220ST Flatbed Scanner

How to get windows to see the scanner every time.

Found that for windows to reliably see the scanner start windows, go to device manager, turn the scanner on and as it goes through its setup, right mouse click and select "scan for new devices" Windows 7 will now see the scanner right away.

Buy and install the 'Viewscan" scanner driver utility.

hallo!! if your installer from the cd try to use other cdroom or dvd rom and install again... if you have other cd installer try to use it.. if your installer from your plus drive delete it and replace a new coppy make sure the installer no viruses. thank you!!!

For that uninstall all usb drivers from device manager then it automatic install all usb drivers .Also uninstall scanner driver from win7 then reinstall make sure driver is compatible with win7. Also make sure usb cable is fine. Then reinstalling drivers check scanner is communicate with computer or not. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Acer ScanPrimo ST 1220ST to work with Windows 7 and a PCI host adapter works just fine I use it every day. The key is to use a third party scanner software called Vue Scan 9.0.57 and using the following start-up procedure so Windows 7 can find the scanner on the SCSI controller. First open windows device manager, then turn on scanner, immediately right mouse click in device manager and select scan for new devices. Windows 7 will immediately find the scanner. It seems that windows will only see the scanner through the SCSI interface during the scanners startup sequence. It has been a while but I believe this works with Mira Scan V4.03 as well.

Hi,

Lets check whether windows detects your scanner

Right click My Computer > Manage > Device Manager

Under Device Manager check Imaging Devices

If there Double click Imaging Devices and check the device under that. If you find your scanner there .Then the scanner is installed properly

Now Lets try a test scan

If Windows Xp do this .
Click start > Run > Type wiaacmgr.exe press enter key
Now take a test scan

If your windows is vista / win 7 then
click start > All programs > accessories > Run
on Run window > Type wiaacmgr.exe press enter key
Now take a test scan

sometimes the power management causes the scanner to act up or fail altogether.
Try: Solution: Disable power management on the USB hubBy default, Window XP tries to disable USB port when the HP Scanjet scanner is not in use to save power. The scanner fails to wake up when called. To fix this problem use the steps below:
  1. Click Start , right-click My Computer , then click Properties . The System Properties window will open.
  2. Click the Hardware tab, then Device Manager . The Device Managerwindow will open.
  3. Double-click the Universal Serial Bus controller branch to expand it.
  4. Right-click USB Root Hub , then click Properties . The USB Root Hub Properties window will open.
  5. Click the Power Management tab.
  6. Remove the check from the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save powercheck box.
  7. Click OK , and close USB Root Hub Properties window.
  8. Close any other open windows.

I also found this info that you may find helpful if having issues with the scanning after you do get it up and running...
the scanner cannot send image files to computer. So Please follow the below steps to adjust the printer driver.

1. Unplug all cables from the scanner and the scanner cable from the computer
2. Click "Start", type "APPWIZ.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press the "Enter" key.
3. Highlight any software or program related to the scanner and click "Change/Remove" to remove the driver.
4. Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" (without quotation marks) and press the Enter key.


The operation requires administrative privileges, please click "Continue" when the User Account Control dialog-box appears.

5. Click "View" and select "Show hidden devices".
6. Click the "+" next to “Imaging Devices”. This will show all Imaging Devices previously and currently connected to the computer.
7. Right-click on the Scanner Band scanner name and left-click on “Uninstall”. If the scanner is listed more than one time, uninstall all occurrences of the scanner.
8. If you see “Other Devices” in the device manager list, click on the “+” to view the list of Other Devices.
9. Right-click on the other device and left-click on “Uninstall” from the list. The scanner may be listed as any of the following:

- USB Scanner
- USB Device
- Unknown Device
- 1200 DPI Scanner
- (Your Scanner Model)


10. Reboot the computer.

After that plug the scanner cable to the computer and turn it on.

Go to Control Panel >> Device Manager, look for the scanner in 'Device Manager' under 'Imaging Devices'
If it is not installed properly and working there should be a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside it next to the scanner name.
Whatever it says, right click on it and select 'Uninstall' and allow it to be uninstalled.
Remove the USB lead from the scanner.
Re-boot the Computer.
Once windows appears and is ready to use, re-install the scanner driver do not plug in the scanner yet!.
Once it has finished installing, re-connect the scanner USB lead.
Windows should install the drivers and tell you the scanner is ready to use.

Microtek Scanner installation issue


If running XP SP2, then try clicking Start > right click My Computer > properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager button > expand Imaging devices > right click on your Microtek ScanMaker > uninstall > Re boot > and let XP pick up the device and let the found hardware wizard configure it.

I have seen plenty of hardware that when following the devices manufacturer's instructions for install, such problems as you're having occur and XP SP2 usually will cure it, though you may still need the device manufacturer's CD (for the driver) in your optical drive.

Step 1 - Verify the scanner's power and connection

  1. Verify that the scanner is turnned on
  2. If the Check or Ready light on the scanner is flashing, click VIS1023 - Check Light Blinking on ADF Scanner for more information
  3. Check that the USB cable is connected to both the scanner and the computer
    • It is recommended that the scanner be connected directly to the back of your computer with a 6 foot or shorter USB cable
Step 2 - Redetect the scanner in device manager
  1. Turn the scanner off
  2. Click Here and select "Run" or "Open"
  3. The Windows Device Manager will open
  4. Go to "View" and choose "Show Hidden Devices"
  5. Click the "+" next to "Imaging Devices". This will show all Imaging Devices previously and currently connected to the computer.
  6. If listed, right-click on the DocuMate 510 then left click on "Uninstall"
  7. If asked to confirm the uninstall, click "OK"
  8. If the scanner is listed more than one time, uninstall ALL occurrences of the scanner
  9. IF you see "?Other Devices" in the device manager list, click on the "+" to view the list of Other Devices
  10. Right click on any instince of the scanner in this list then left click on "Uninstall"
    The scanner may be listed as any of the following:
    • USB Scanner
    • USB Device
    • Unknown Device
    • DocuMate 510
  11. Once the scanner has been completely removed from Device Manager, turn the scanner back on
If there is no Found New Hardware message when the scanner is turned back on and the scanner is not listed in Device Manager under Imaging Devices or Other Devices, this typically means the scanner is not communicating correctly with the computer. Try plugging the scanner into a different USB port or using a different USB cable.
