This question was asked about three weeks ago. Sorry for the late input. Rice may help and so does time. If it doesn't come back right away, you may need to give it plenty of time - as in days. I would keep it in a slightly warm place. Even if it doesn't seem to work, don't give up on it. It could come back after the battery is completely discharged. Don't try to charge it for a very long time (weeks) unless it shows signs of life to the point you are able to use it again.

Update us on what has happened so far. Did the rice work for you?

SOURCE: My ipod nano chromatic ha water damage from the washer

Sometimes if you leave it sit for several days or so it will dry out completely and start to work again. I don't recommend charging it or plugging it in for several days or so as if there is still water in it, it may fry some of the chips. It may be beyond repair though.

My ipod 160gb got wet and know it wont turn on but when I try to charge it the screen blinks

1st - how long ago did it get wet?
2nd - have you stored it in a bag of uncooked rice for at least 24 hours? (You can wrap it in a tissue to keep dust out of the dock)

If you haven't done the second above - regardless of how long ago it got wet - you should try this BEFORE trying anything else using electric current!! You may do more damage if there's water inside the case.

My son's 2nd generation ipod touch received water damage and now the touch screen does not work....how can I fix this..need it fixed for antother child

Hi tonyacompton..

If you ever find that you have to deal with a wet device, don't just abandon it.
Instead, try the following method to repair the water damage:
DO NOT TURN IT ON!
Take it apart as much as you can. Take out the battery, the memory card and whatever else can be easily disassembled. (Just make sure you can put it back together.)
Store the parts in an air-tight container covered with either dry rice, silica gel packets or kitty litter. These will absorb the moisture from your electronics device, leaving it water-free.
If no rice, gel packets or kitty litter are available, try using a vacuum to **** the water out.
DO NOT blow-dry the parts, it will only force the water farther in and cause more damage.

I dropped my in the toilet and it was working fine until about 20 minutes later the screen just went completly white. What do I do?

Hi Lizzy,
There is probably some water still in your ipod causing your problem.
Firstly, switch your ipod off. This can help prevent any more damage being caused.
Then, leave your ipod in a warm dry place, an airing cupboard or near a radiator (not on top!) for 6-8 hours.
After 6-8 hours try turning your ipod on to see if it is working again.
If it still isn't working turn your ipod off again.
Fill a small bowl with rice and submerge your ipod completely in it over night. It sounds a bit strange, but the rice draws out any of the remaining moisture in the ipod.
In the morning take the ipod out and get the rice out of anywhere it may have got stuck and try again.

How do you fix a wet ipod touch

1)make sure it is off

2) bury the ipod in a container of white rice for at least 24 hours

3)cross fingers and

4)turn on

The rice absorbs all the moisture (water) out of the casing and keeps it from staying collected until it zaps your electronics

Ipod back light turns on, yet no graphics

This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .

it sounds crazy .

Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY
.

Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.

Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.

It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).

beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.

This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick.

My lg vu phone fell in a river and it has water inside the screen. im not so much bothered by the screen being a bit messed, but it keeps saying insert smartchip. i put my smartchip in the right way, but...

take out the chip, and the battery and put the entire phone in a pound of dry uncooked rice. leave it for three days. also put the battery into the rice separate from the phone. cover the container with saran wrap or aluminum foil to keep it as air tight as possible.

if you are fortunate by the end of day three the phone will be moisture free.

Yes there is something you can do. Put rice in a sealable container and place your ipod in the rice. try to cover the ipod completely. the rice is a good sponge for water and it is almost the only way you can fix a waterlogged ipod.
