You might not be able to play certain games that have animation because they use a lot of grahics and you will need to update the graphics card drivers or install more computer ram
Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might try these http://ati-catalyst-drivers.en.softonic.com/Optimise your ATi graphics card's performance Hope this helps.
Keep in mind that your Sony IS NOT A TV, but a monitor instead. There is an actual XBOX360 VGA adapter that's available at most gaming retailers. It was initially designed for those who wanted to use their PC monitors for there console gaming. HDMI is NOT compatible with a VGA input as HDMI is a digital signal type and VGA is an analog type connection. You must also remember to have the XBOX set to a NON-progressive resolution (480i) if trying to hook it up using the standard XBOX video cables.
Have you installed the latest drivers for your video card ? Because in your description you are running with standard VGA drivers from operating sistem. Find your laptop model and visit the manufacturer support site and see if they have driver for Windows 7. If not try to use Windows update from Operating Sistem, from Start menu - Applications - Windows Update.
You know in 'f that would be a nice weather.. in 'c its a nice Sauna.
The heatsinks and cooling in general is very poor on this series of laptops, I would recommend you use canned air in the ventilation slots and on the fan to get all the dust out.
also you could try one of those coolings pads that go under the laptop.
few years ago I had the same issue, what I did was I opened up the laptop and on the model I had 1522wlmi, the vga adapter card (on that model) is on the front / top. I put a Processor cooler from a desktop computer there, it kept it cool. down to 50'c instead of the 120'c it used to get. I even have a picture of it somewhere.
Your machine shouldn't just freeze instantly, unless the video adapter or mainboard has already suffered some damage from overheating.
You could try reinstalling windows to the machine, with the discs that came with it or with a normal windows setup cd.
after that see if the freezeing is gone, it won't solve the overheating problem but it should get rid of the freezeing unless its a hardware problem, the machine shouldn't overheat in just few minutes. Well the cooler these models is very poor and I don't recommend these laptops to any kind of gameing unless your playing solitaire.. ofcourse...
