Why will the bobbin not wind on the singer athena 2000 sewing machine?

I have followed the instructions in the manual, but the singer athena 2000 will not wind the bobbin. It just sits there and will not spin around.

SOURCE: Bobbin won't wind

I have checked the gears underneath and see no missing teeth for the bobbin part. The bobbin "seat" does raise, but does not engage. Thanks

SOURCE: Singer Sewing Machine model 9224. Bobbin thread

If you turn the handwheel, can you see a metal ring rotating around the outer edge of the bobbin case? If not rotating, broken gear or timing belt off.
If that ring is turning, remove the needle plate and bobbin case. As this ring now rotates, you will a finger on the ring that will pass behind the needle from right to left and it should catch the thread from the eye of the needle. If this finger, the "hook" passes above the eye, you have a timing problem.

Let me know.

SOURCE: We have 2 singer 7442 machines and they will no

If you have followed the instructions and the winders do not work, the machines will need to be repaired, or you could purchase a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder and forgo the expense of having the machines repaired.

How do i thread the bobbin on a singer athena 1200 sewing machine

The Athena 1200 and 2000 are "Touch and Sew" slant needle machines. Singer has not made them for many years, but I always loved them, because the bobbin is wound in place--you don't take it out! You can still get a full assortment of presser feet for them; just make sure they're for slant needle machines.

You would be wise to visit the Singer Sewing Machine site and download your user's manual--it's free, and it will show you how to wind the bobbin. There are a series of pictures there as well. There are several steps you need to take, such as raising the presser foot, selecting the blind hem stitch, etc. Sounds complicated, but I owned an Athena 1200, and I can tell you that after the first or second try, you'll find it quite easy.

Incidentally, did you know that it's one of those rare machines that will do a TRUE 1/2" basting stitch! I kept it for years, just for that ability!

Winding bobbin athena 2000

I had one of these machines, they're Touch and Sew, and the bobbin winds in place. Check to make sure you actually have the correct bobbin inserted, because the bobbin it uses is available with a metal center post and without a center post, and yours takes the one without. I had another machine that took the center post one and accidentally put the wrong one in the 2000 one day and had the same problem.

How do I thread a Singer Athena 2000?

The user's manual for the Singer Athena 2000 is a free download from the Singer Sewing Machine site. It will show you how to thread your machine properly. A heads-up, though--the presser foot MUST be UP when you thread ANY machine from ANY manufacturer, going back at least a century!

My singer athena 2000 won't pull the bottom thread up to form a stitch. I know this is an OLD machine and I couldn't find the right selection from the list My Singer Athena 2000 sewing machine was...

I think if you watch the hook as you turn the wheel you will see that it is not moving. If it's not moving it can't pick up the thread or sew or wind the bobbin. If you really like this machine you can take it to a technician who is going to tell you you have a broken gear.Always have them replaced in pairs. On this machine there are 2 gears( 1 Pair) on the left and 2 gears( 1 Pair) on the right. If the machine is making buzzing noises, replace the machine instead of the gears. Singer makes a nice machine which sells for around $300 which will do more than the one you have and it is easier to use. Look at Model 7467. I sell quite a few of these and they don't give me or my customers problems.
