SOURCE: Running toilet

Mine does that also, here's what I found.; I am on a well and occasionaly sand gets caught in the valve thingy... Take the tank lid off, turn the arm that attaches to the float assy. 1/4 turn towards the back of the tank and take it out. Rinse off the gasket and pin as well as inside the hole. Reassemble and it should solve your problem.

SOURCE: Toilet runs around 1 per hour.

I had the same problem with my new flapper. Instead of vasoline, use "plumbers' grease". You can buy it in a small tube at Lowes, HomeDepot, etc for about $4.00. I use the silcone based stuff and it never washes off. You will find other uses for this stuff. It is great!

Try replacing the flapper, they are cheap and so long as the tank and or bowl are not cracked you can replace all of the internal parts and basically have a brand new toilet much cheaper then replacing the entire unit. Go down to your local hardware store and everything you need is in one simple kit with very simple instructions. Good Luck.

How do I stop water running into pan after toilet has been flushed &refilled.

If there is water still running into the toilet bowl, there is a problem with your flapper or flush valve. The most common problem, and least expensive to fix, is the flapper has gone bad and is allowing water to escape past it. Replace the flapper and the water should stop running. If not, it is possible the flush valve or one of the seals holding it to the tank has gone bad and needs replaced. Try replacing the whole flush valve. They come in a kit that includes the valve, flapper, and seals.

I have a porcher sandpiper toilet and there is constantly water running inside the bowl at the back.

A few things to check look in the tank make sure nothing is blocking the flapper at the bottom thats the thing that lets the water drain into the bowl if it is clear check make sure the chain or line that connects the flush handle to the flapper is not kinked causing it to hold the flap up enough to let the water drain. If these are ok sometimes sediments will make the float device, whether its a ball or a canister type to stick reach in and lift the floater if the water stops then adjust the floater some have a screw on the canisters to adjust some an arm some the whole mechanism shaft screws up and down to adjust if its the ball hold the metal arm firm next to the base and bend it slightly down on the other end so the ball goes further into the water so when you release it lifts it up better don't bend to much check and bend more if you need to. If its a ball make sure water is not getting into it by feeling if so replace it. If none of these work you can replace the whole thing for around $20 just turn the water off flush the tank get all the excess water out and go to town its not hard make sure you have pipe tape and if you don't know about the tape ask the hardware dealer to explain how it goes on just a couple wraps. The hardware store can help you pick the one you need tell them what yours looks like and they can help find a replacement.

either the fill valve is running and water is draining into the bowl via the overflow tube in the tank or the flapper is bad (or foreign matter) and it is allowing water to escape into the bowl through the flush valve slowly...causing the tank to drain and the fill valve to run every few minutes or so. start by inspecting/cleaning or replacing the flapper and hopefully that will do it because a one piece toilet flush valve needs a special wrench,to remove it, that you use with a ratchet. If you buy a new flush valve, it comes with the wrench (glorified piece of plastic) and is not too difficult to get the flush valve out. you can get a replacement at They do mail order, too. All you need is the toilet type - a four digit number embossed in the tank starting with a 2. hope this helps but if you need anything else just ask:)

Constant running can be due to a defective fill valve or faulty flapper. Try replacing either or both before discarding the entire toilet. One other possibility is that poor design results in poor operation.

Need to gt the top off of a porcher toilet we can't fogure out how to get into the tank to fix whatever continues to run

I'm not sure why this is a challenge. The lid should just lift right off unless you have a wall mount toilet. Here is a .pdf of a typical Porcher toilet and how it all goes together. There is also a handy trouble shooting guide. If the toilet is running the culprit is either a faulty flapper or fill vavle. Let me knwo if I can be of any further help.
