Comdial Edge 120 Caller ID

I cannot see the Caller ID until I pick up the phone. What can I do to be able to see who is calling before I answer the phone?

This is a Definity system phone. The phones themselves have nothing to do with caller ID, it's the system that handles it. The phone line has to have the caller ID service AND the phone system needs to collect the information and then display it on your phone. If you are sure caller ID service is available on the phone line you are using than this is a programming issue. Definity is a huge system and you cannot program it yourself. Someone in your building is either in charge of making simple changes in the phone system or contacting the company that makes these changes for you.

I just went thru this.
Push the Voicemail button, hit # until it asks for mailbox #, then hit 70 for password. Wait for main menu, then hit 3 for options. Then hit 2 to record your greeting. Now the tricky part,,, I don't know if these are all programmed the same way, but it will ask for the number of the box you wish to change, ours is 800, then follow along.

What I'm trying to find out is how you can import a prerecorded message (mp3) as your greeting.

Had a similar issue with a brand new DECT2035 uniden phone, displaying incoming call not caller ID.

Checked my old uniden phone, and it was receiving CID. So I connected my DECT2035 to that line and then lo and behold I got my CID.
After further investigation I found that CID on my dect phone wont work if its using a shared filter (ie. adsl/phone splitter). Had to find an unfiltered splitter and then just put a phone filter (that I got with my adsl modem) onto the line that is directly connecting the phone. and then WOOHOO I have caller ID.

Hope this helps you... I got my wife a little cranky over this one cos it took me over an hour and a half to try and sus this one out =)

I was using this site while trouble shooting this in the US...
If the customer has DSL with filters in the same system go back to the NID and Isolate the DSL,
test the caller id and call waiting caller id. If this works you have Data Bleed coming from the DSL.
Make sure there are not two sets of filters on the line. Tjis customer had a filter with the DSL modem.

Doing this we just fixed an on going problem for a field tech who was the second callout on a customer issue.

Comdial Edge 120. How to disable line 2 please?

Question edited for clarity.

Phone your phone service provider. That isn't a problem with the phone it is a line fault outside the property. Normally wet or badly corroded contacts up the pole or in an connection box above or underground..

There is no way to disable a line

How to change number of rings on VTect cordless CS6114-11

The CS6114-11 isn't an answering machine. It will ring until you answer, an answering machine or voicemail system picks up, or the caller hangs up.

CHANGE THE NUMBER OF RINGS ON THE VTECH CS6719-16

The CS6719-16 isn't an answering machine. It will ring until someone answers, some other answering machine picks up, or the caller hangs up.

If you want to change the number of rings before an answering machine picks up, please reply to this post and specify the answering machine.

I have a Comdial Edge 120. When a call is transferred to an extension and is not picked up at that extension within a certain period of time, it goes to that extensions voicemail instead of bouncing back...

I'm not familiar wiht Edge terminology, but the idea is you set the transfer recall time to something less than the call forward to voicemail. It means that any calls to voicemail have to be direct transfers and there may be some auto attendant issues.

No caller ID. TP company says I have service.

  • Did you fully charge your phone? - Make sure you fully charge for 16-24 hours .

  • Is the battery old? - Replace the battery.

  • Is the electrical outlet switch turned on? - If you are using AC (electrical) power, make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet.

  • Are the connecting wires tight - Unplug the AC power converter from the unit and plug it back in.

  • Do you have Caller ID service with your telephone company - In order to receive Caller ID records, you must subscribe to the standard name and number Caller ID service available through your local telephone company. If the Caller ID works for normal calls but not on Call waiting calls, then you must contact your phone company to get the combined CID/CW service.

  • Caller ID shows up after second ring - Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering. Caller ID signals comes through after the first ring, if caller pick ups phone too soon Caller ID signal will not be transmitted to the handset.

  • Confirm that caller ID is still working on that particular line by checking another phone on the same line - If Caller ID is not coming through contact your phone company provider.

If this does not fix your problem, contact your authorized Service Center.*

AVAYA 5410- want to turn Caller- id off

Do you have access to Manager? You can tag the incoming call which does not show the caller ID of a call until the call is answered.

Caller Id function...How do I turn it on?

You dont normally have to "turn on" caller ID on a phone capable of displaying caller ID.
However, the caller ID data the phone has to pick up off the phone line when a call comes in is normally an additional (paid for) service from your telecomms provider.
Have you specifficlally requested the caller ID service from your telecomms provider ? If so, have they confirmed it is now up and running ? Are you sure your phone is caller ID compatible ? Can you borrow a phone from somebody, that you know dsiplays caller ID and try that phone on your line ?
If the answers to these questions is yes, then you need to report this as a fault to your telecoms provider who, so long as the answers to the above questions really is yes, wont charge you for rectifying the problem.

Caller ID

The unisyn system needs an add on caller id module, If your system does not have that it cannot pass caller id info.
