Dear Sir, There is no provision of fixing my laptop to a wireless router. Can anybody advise how to convert this "laptop" to enable getting wireless connection of internet?

To connect to the Internet you need a few extra things aswell as a network or wireless card and install the LAN or wireless driver.
1. You need to sign up with an Internet service provider.
2. Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DSL or cable modem
3. You need a DSL or cable modem and connect and configure the modem to inaccordance with your Internet service provider's instructions.
4. Install Internet Explorer if it has not been done.
5. If everything has been done correctly, when you open Internet Explorer youcan access the Internet. If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to yourwireless router, the router needs its wireless settings to be configuredwith the SSID, encryption key etc., also the wireless cards in all thelaptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

I have a NetGear Wireless Router which wont connect to internet.

Verify that you can connect to the internet without the router by hooking the cable from the dsl modem to your computers NIC.

If you can connect to the internet that way the problem is with the router. press and hold the reset button on the back of the router to reset it to the factory settings. (this just makes it easy to determine the problem) if this corrects the problem you can setup your security again

Limited or no connectivity on a DELL PC

It sounds like you know what you are doing with most of this stuff.

It seems to me that the problem lies in the router that you are using. Some routers are programed to only accept a certain number of computers (they only have so many ip addresses to had out).

As a quick diagnostic of this problem, try removing or shutting down all the computers except the Dell, and then restart the router and the Dell.

If the Dell works now, you'll have to reprogram the router to accept more computers on your LAN.

good luck

Please Help! My IP is driving me crazy!

modem only transmits signal.

router talks to your provider and gets IP address from them, depending on your subscription, you may have a static or dynamic IP.

your computer gets internal (home network) IP from the router, you don't have to worry about that since it is the router's IP address that is seen on the internet (router splits / shares a single internet connection in home networks).

about wireless connection from computers/wi-fi gadgets to the router, must configure the router with the ff:

wireless network name (aka SSID)
security type (WPA/WEP) and password/passphrase/security key
channel (1-12)

the above info must be then set to the connecting computers/gadgets

about wired connection: a working ethernet cable (looks like a phone cord but fatter) and a working computer/gadget ethernet port.

Wii will work - check Wii's website for connectivity options / instructions.

Wireless router, laptop problems

Try to delete all the prefered networks. Right-Click Wireless Network Connection, View Available Wireless Networks. Click on Change the Order of Prefered Networks. Remove all prefered networks there and click OK. Now try to View the available wireless networks again, reconnect to your own wireless network and see if it connects fine. Post your feedback.

Netgear FS105 Switch is not fowarding ports properly.

Does your modem have a built in router or do you have a router in your network. The switch needs no changes that's all it is a switch it will allow computers to talk and share fine, if you want to use it for internet you will need to connect it to a router first or use one of your computers as the router and let it share the connection. since you disabled DHCP on your router I am assuming you have a router. all you need is to connect the switch to the router, the connect the computers to the switch and all should work.

Network

as long as you are not using your own router to connect to your neighbours, as this wont work only one router on the network can connect to the net Im assuming your pc is trying to connect to the neighbours router, so you need to reset the router if you cant access it, it should have no password as default and the ip address of the router should be 192.168.2.1. get into your network cards properties and ensure obtain an ip address automatically on the TCP/IP line is selected. Go into the router settings and make sure enable DHCP is set to allocate ip addresses automatically and that the router transmits on mixed mode b and G, turn off any wep or wpa encryption until you have a connection. Do not use windows connection repair as it will totaly mess up your pc's ip addresses and stop you from connecting to the routers ip address.
