Question about iRobot Roomba 560 Robotic Vacuum
Brush and beater bar wont turn
Posted by Anonymous on
Are they wrapped up with hair, thread, dental floss? If so clean them. Were the brush and beater bar replaced incorrectly in the past? The square end has to fit on the square side, etc.

Ah ha!!! After cleaning the brushes umpteen times I worked out that you have to remove the very small yellow pieces (not the other ones which sit on the end) but the ones right on the end and look for hair that is caught on the spindle. No more clicking noise either!

your roomba is thinking that you need to clean the brushes. if too much load it put on your brush motor--the unit will think that something is wrapped around the brush and slowing down the motor. if you have cleaned your brush and are sure that is not the problem; you need to look for anything else that could be slowing down the brush/motor. If this is inconclusive you need to put your roomba into diagnostic mode by following the procedures in the link below http://swiftracer.com/index.php?myPage=RoombaDiagnosticMode.php

Wheel modules? It's more likely to be the cleaning head module. Clean your brushes exactly as the manual describes-- particularly the yellow bearings. Run the Roomba on a hard floor without the dustbin. Does the brush turn? If not, call support again and they'll help you out.

gears may be stripped in the brush drive line. right off the motor is a gearbox, held on with two screws. getting to it is fairly complicated, fix is easy. parts can be found at Protech Robotics Parts and Service
