SOURCE: riding mower stalls when blades are engaged

If you bought this mower used and did not change the oil and air fillter or even looked too see what the oil and air filter looked like that could be part of your problem what ever you do when you buy a used mower always change the oil and air filter make sure you are lubed up good and the mower can breath then go from there to your spark plug if it is a used mower change it is better safe then sorry got to keep that sparky sparking. Then if the problem continues think could the lever for lowering and raising the blades sliping and causing the blades to get to close to the ground if not. After all of this it would be a good time to call you nearest pro for some advice not to fix it because if they are anything like the ones around where I live they will try to help you figure out what it is just by what you tell them over the phone before they will want to see it and charge you anything.Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a husqvarna riding

Could be something jamming a blade or belt. With the engine OFF and the key OUT make sure the blades and belts all move freely by hand. Clear out all grass and c**p from the blade and belt areas. You may have to remove the blade deck to do this - instructions are in your manual or download a manual from the Husqvarna website. Good Luck!

Make sure the "engagement pulley" assy. is moving when the blades are engaged. This can sometimes "freeze" and not move to tighten the belt. You may also make sure the cable is intact as well. These have also been known to brake inside the housing and even though the lever moves, the cable does not pull. These are just a few of the common issues you may want to check. Hope it gets you in the right direction.

Sounds like your PTO switch or clutch has gone bad. Unfortunately, it is usually the clutch.

Engine stalls

could be a stuck pulley or bearing, or debris in the cutting deck. make sure the blades turn freely with mower off and blades dissengaged. If they dont, remove the deck and check all of the pulleys for freeness.

Engine runs but stalls when engaged

This sounds like a micro switch, or relay issue, it is not stalling it is being switched off, if there are some relays on the back of the bulk head replace them, they are just a push fit.

Stalling and cutting off could be two different problems so I will address both. If the engine is stalling or being bogged down, you could have a pulley frozen or something jammed that is not allowing the belt to turn and therefore bogs the engine down.

If the engine is cutting off, you could have a safety switch issue that is killing the ignition. You may want to check the seat switch and connector to make sure they are working properly. Hope this gets you in the right direction.

Mower wants to stall when blades are engaged on a Huskee 13hp 38'' cut Tecumseh engine 6 speed on the go shift

Usually when the motor stalls when blades are engaged on any mower it is the carb that needs cleaned and rebuilt. The motor isn't getting enough gas to handle the load.

Engine stalls when electric PTO clutch is engaged

check your spacers to be sure you havent locked the clutch assembly directly to the motor shaft
you should be able to turn it fairly free less some clutch drag
