Does it have steering control triggers to turn it left or right...if so hold both at the same time with engine off and see if you can push it..Let me know if that works. Or let me know what kind of controls you have

My mtd yard machine snow blower gear turns freely, doesn't turn with the wheels. found problem when blower would not move

if u ck the pins in the center of your wheel hubs , you may see one or both missing , these pins are to allow one to free wheel the blower to "push " it easier , they do rust and break off over time

Yardworks. Why is drive not moving?

Put machine up on it's auger and take off bottom cover. All the guts are under that cover. you should be able to see and understand how the chain drives the wheels. Some machines have Sheer pins ( a 1/4" bolt) on the Drive axle. Look for it by the chain sprocket

The cable may be rusted so when you pull the handle only the tension spring moves. Tilt the machine up onto its Auger and take the bottom cover off. See if anything is rusted and not moving when pressing the lever

30 in. craftsman snow thrower, model no. 247.883960,pulls to the right

If your blower uses the two wheels to drive which I think it does I would suggest that you have a shear pin on the right side that is broken. If that is the case you will have to pull the wheel off and replace the shear pin. You can tell if it's broken by lifting the right side and trying to turn the wheel by hand.If it turns easily its broken.
This is an idea only. You might want to check both wheels as I'm not sure as far as the steering is concerned.

When in gear right wheel drives left wheel is locked and will not move same when not engaged

Many snowblowers use pins (or bolts - see image below) that pass thru the shoulder of the rim of the tires thru a hole drilled thru the drive shaft. Removing both of the pins allows the tires to spin freely on the drive shaft and makes it much easier to push, pull and turn the snowblower. If they are not installed again, the machine will not "drive" and make clearing snow difficult to do. Installing only one will make the machine want to go in circles. Make sure you have these pins installed thru BOTH rim shoulders and drive shafts - locked in place. Other machines lock the tires in other ways - since it sounds like one side is working correctly - you should compare the two tires / rims and make them both look like the one that works properly. Good luck!

Yardman snowblower won't self-propel

Do not start to do this but put the blower in gear like you would run to drive its self and try to turn the wheels by hand and if they turn easily then you may have a shear pin that is broken or missing in the drive pulley.
Just a thought.

My poulan snow blower keeps breaking sheer pins in the wheels,

1)try replacing them with a heavy duty "roll-pin"
these are available from auto parts stores.
two types are available.
first is the "single-roll",second is the"multi-rolled"with many layers to it.

try both they're cheap.

2)try not hitting things with the blades
3)dont force the machine in heavy wet ,or frozen icy packed snow.
