How to fix error code 50 on EFX 5.21i?

Precor Error 50, Too Much Brake (Magnet) Current Probable Cause 1. Shorted or damaged wiring between the lower PCA and the eddy current magnet is the most common cause for this error.
2. Bad eddy current magnet.
3. Bad lower PCA.
Corrective Action
  1. Thoroughly inspect the eddy current wiring and connections ensuring that the wires are not shorted to the frame or shorted together. Repair or replace damaged wiring as necessary.
  2. Disconnect the wires from the eddy current magnet. Using an ohm meter, check for approximately 100 ohms across the eddy current magnet terminals. If the reading is considerably low, replace the eddy current magnet. Measure ohms between each eddy current magnet terminal and the frame ground. You should have no resistance between the eddy current magnet terminal and the frame ground. If resistance is present this would indicate a partial short, replace the eddy current magnet.
  3. If the eddy current magnet wiring and the eddy current magnet are both good from the above tests, replace the lower PCA.

Tip

Extending the life of your lift magnet

In a scrap yard or other places where lift magnets are used on a regular basis they are an essential part of daily routine. But it is also a tool that can easily be ruined, abused or broken if not taken care of properly.

A few simple tips will keep your lifting magnet up and running for longer and better.
When you are getting your magnet out over the piles that you are going to be picking up make sure that you don't power up the magnet until it is over the pile. This will ensure that the magnet doesn't pick up anything along the way to the pile. Picking up stray pieces to the pile could block the magnet and can keep you from getting a full load. When you turn on the magnet let it sit on for a few seconds allowing it to power up completely and get a maximum magnetism.

It might seem like a good idea to work with a group of small piles rather than one large pile, but when working with a magnet the opposite is true. By gathering up small piles into a single larger pile will make the job go much faster.

Only use your magnet for lifting, using it for any other purpose can break the magnet and can be very costly to replace. Using a lifting magnet as a skull-cracker or battering ram can cause pretty big damage. When you are using your lifting magnet use it with care and let it down onto a pile gently to avoid banging it up.

Every so often you should check the magnet and casing for loose or broken bolts and replace them right away. These bolts help to not only hold the magnet together but also to keep moisture from getting in and causing electric shock.

Keeping the magnet cool will not only help to keep the magnet in a good working condition, it will also make your magnet carry more. A cool magnet is able to carry much more than a hot magnet. If your magnet does begin to over heat don't use water to cool it down. Store the magnet somewhere dry and off the ground to keep it from building up moisture.

Proper care and maintenance will keep your magnet running for longer and better. Paying attention to how they are being used and keeping tabs on their state will help to keep you from needing to replace your lifting magnet or spending a lot of money on repairs.

Be aware that the resistance is often the part that requires repair. Resistance is managed magnetically, so often if the machine is working, but the resistance isn't setting correctly or at all, check the bolts that secure the magnets. If they are loose, the resistance will slip. If the bolts are fine, check the magnets themselves by using a refrigerator magnet and see if it is attracted or repelled by the your fridge magnet. If not, the magnets have de-magnetized and need to be replaced.

Can lifting magnets affect someones pacemaker?

most lifting magnets only effect things that are directly under the magnet, and the magnet will be mostly concerned with the metal in the load. However, you should always post signs around to warn people who have pacemakers because it can cause problems if they get very close to the magnet

Re magnetization or new magnets for villiers vintage flywheel

Replacing magnets usually means replacing flywheel.

However, you might try remagnetizing the magnets with a magneto magnetizer. Dave Gingery wrote a book on how to make one- a few links should show up in a search, Lindsay publishing is the original publisher of that book. The older alloys are not going to be real strong compared to the new magnets, but once magnetized again to the flux it once was should give it a few more decades of service.
