How can I connect my pioneer sx-255r to my TV?

If it is a newer high end receiver an HDMI cable will usually work. If it is an older receiver get two RCA shielded cables available at Radio shack or Best Buy. You will need male plugs on both ends of the cables. Run the cables from the audio out jacks on the back of your TV into the TAPE or CD or VCR input jacks of your receiver. Some TV's require you to get into the menu to change the audio out to a remote source as opposed to using the TV's own speakers. And of course you will have to switch to the appropriate source on your receiver to match.

What I have done many times instead of using a remote receiver to improve sound is - take the back off of the TV and run new wires to a better quality of loudspeakers. This will often be an acceptable alternative to using a receiver as the wife and kids complain about the frustration of having to turn on and off both pieces of equipment or worse yet leaving the receiver powered on and increasing the size of my electric bill.

How do I hook up a powered subwoofer to a pioneer sx-316?

Many subwoofers accept both line level (RCA jacks) and amplified inputs (+ and - speaker terminals). The Pioneer SX-316 does not offer line level output, only amplified outputs via the PURPLE + and - speaker terminals. This means that in order to use any subwoofer with an SX-316, the sub woofer will need to accept a + and - speaker wire connections for input Your manual speaker connections are on page 11 of the manual which can be found here: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/260358/Pioneer-Sx-316-S.html#manual

Starting at the rear of the SX-316; run a speaker wire from the PURPLE + and - terminal (SUBWOOFER) to the + and - speaker input terminals on the subwoofer. See your subwoofer manual or experiment (at your own risk) with connecting the speaker wire from the SX-316 to the subwoofer's + and - LEFT only, RIGHT only or BOTH left and right speaker inputs. Do not connect wires from the SX-316 to the speaker OUTPUT terminals of your subwoofer.

Finally, adjust any variable low pass filter knob or setting on the subwoofer to the lowest frequency that your main speakers are capable of producing. If you're not sure what that value is, try setting the subwoofer to 100Hz and judge how it blends with the main speakers. If it seems a little too bass heavy and thick then reduce the setting to 80Hz. On the other hand, if the sound seems to be slightly thin and lacking weight, try increasing the setting to 120Hz. By careful listening and a bit of patience you will be able to get the sound to seem balanced and well blended.

Good luck!

I have connected Pioneer PL-990 turntable to SX-255R receiver through PHONO but get static and distortion through speakers. Manual says to connect to AUX not PHONO but cannot see AUX on receiver. Any...

You need to hook it up to another analog input other than the phono input. The record player has a built in preamp, and the receiver's phono input has a separate preamp for non-amplified players. You cannot have the two hooked to each other.

How do I hook up my ipod to my pioneer vsx d409 ?

The best way is to use a 3,5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA cable like this:
technical114_34.jpg
You can easily find one like this at your local audio/electronics shop or buy one on line. You have to connect the RCA at any free stereo input at the back of your Pioneer (like aux or cd). Take a look at this picture:
technical114_35.jpg
After this you can use the 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting not only your ipod but every mp3 player or other device has an earphone jack. Just plug the 3.5mm jack at the earphone jack and rise the volume at the portable device up to the middle of the volume range and set your Pioneer input selector at the stereo input that you connect the 2 RCA before (aux or cd)

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

How do I play music from my lap top on this sound system?

your laptop has an audio output jack that is 1/8 inch sterio .. your sound system likely has RCA input jacks .. you can get a cable from radio shack that has a 1/8 inch (3.5mm) sterio plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other ..
plug the 1/8 inch jack into your computers audio output (headphone jack) .. the RCA plugs will connect to the AUX (analog) input on your sound system .. select AUX on your sterio system to select the computers input .. now you should have great sound from your computer . the computer likely provides only sterio information so the multi (7) channel feature of your sound system will have to fake it ..

Pioneer receiver sx-315

With persistence, I was able to program the Universal Remote Control provided with the cable box to control my new used Pioneer SX-315 receiver. I now can control the tv volume, cable box, auxiliary stereo receiver with speaker system with one remote. Thank goodness I did not have to resort to buying a Pioneer remote control.

I was able to program another previously unused universal remote which I purchased several years ago. However, since the other remote control did not list the Vizio TV. That brand is too new for the remote.

Where to plug the rc cables for audio?

Outputs from a source connect to inputs on the receiver. Use an RCA cable to connect the flat screen's audio output jacks to the input jacks you want to use on the receiver. Select that input on the receiver and you will have the audio from the flat screen set.
