Question about Garden

Open Question

Guardian 21230L After repairing my Daughters sectional door, which needed to get it's top roller back into it's track on one side, released the spring tension, square up the door, straighten one track that had two support brackets bent, and refit one cable that had jumped over the spool lip, then retention the springs. the motor operated ok by the remote but the chain did not move, found that the drive pin through the shaft & nylon gear drive had sheered, I replaced the pin tried the remote, ok. but now when you press the remote to stop it going one way, when you press it again it goes the same way again, it does not go in the opposite way, and does not automatically stop when the locking latch hits the stop, causing the chain to jamb hard. there is a hall type impeller slicing a light beam driven by the nylon gear, is this any way related to where the position of the chain is? the engagement latch on the chain is at the motor end, or is it just setting the force /load screws? as I have found out my Son in law had been playing with the adjustments.

SOURCE: Door Latch has broken plastic tab

The door latch assembly comes as one piece. It would actually be much simpler to purchase the new latch and replace the whole assembly instead of trying to put pieces and parts back inside a latch that may or may not work after all your hard effort. If you decide to replace the latch, follow these steps: 1. Unplug the machine. 2. Remove the lower kick plate panel if you like (this can help you reach the latch from a couple of different angles). 3. Open door and feel around the rubber door boot for a wire hoop. At the bottom of the door open is a tension spring. Pull the spring apart and remove the wire hoop from the groove. 4. Gently lift the rubber boot from the groove around the door opening and push inside the machine so you can access the inside of the casing. 5. The door latch assembly is located inside the case on the right-hand side. There should be a couple of wire connectors going to it (remember how they come off). Be careful with the wires, they are small and can break. 6. Unplug the wire connectors and remove the three screws holding the latch in place from the outside of the casing. 7. There should also be a plastic retainer holding the latch in place. Remove latch from retainer. 8. Install new door latch by placing it in the plastic retainer, first. 9. Plug wires connectors in. 10. Re-install the three door latch screws. 11. Re-install rubber door boot around the door opening. Make sure it is properly seated in the groove. 12. Reinsert wire hoop. starting at the top of the door opening, carefully push the wire hoop into the groove and work your way all the way around the bottom where the tension spring would be. (A second set of hands to hold the wire hoop in replace would be handy at this point). 13. Pull tension spring apart and snap into groove. Done. Hopefully this will take care of your problems. Of course, you may not like the idea of having to purchase a whole new door latch assembly, or the effort required to remove and replace. But, it sure beats trying to rebuild the old one. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Bosch SHU43 / Siemens Dishwasher door not locking

I replaced the top cover, that required removing the door screws to get access to the front of the door to remove the 4 top cover retaining screws. After replacing all this, the door latch was in teh locked position not allowing the door to close. How do you physically re-set the lock, I tried to push it with no luck!

SOURCE: Chain falling off on small load

New bar and chain should do the trick. ONCE IT GETS A LITTLE DULL T BUILDS UP HEAT AND STRETCHES. Use a good quality case hardened chain they last longer and are well worth the extra money.

Trace circuit, back through the wiring, through the switch, and back to the source, using a meter.

if your saying that the light on door opener housing is flashing then stopping after a few moments , this is a sign of a fault in door safety's , either the door has to much friction now to move or beam detectors have sensed a problem

Not sure about the Guardian, but it should be in the installation manual which can be downloaded, if you don't have the original. On my "Linear" brand, you just have to press the plastic cover at the right place and it releases.

Garage Door: How to fix single car garage door that is in raised position, on tracks but will not move using the power opener or manually?

Gary released the lift could be the rails that the rollers ride on are bent or damaged what you can try is disconnect the 4 panels and try moving top panel inside the rails slots movement to the back and force and see how it works if ok then hook up the next and try it and next try it and next try it this way you can see if one of the panels or the rail is not correct lined up until you have all 4 panels connected again or check with your house insurance and see if they will cover you installing a new garage door system.

I have a problem with a guardian 21230L garage door opener when you push the button the light flashes but no door movement happens can you help cheers Tom

I have the same problem. Door does not open or close when press the push button and/or transmitter. The light flashes 5 times. Manually open or close the door is ok. On the manual troubleshoot, it says it's either the opener is overheated or it's on vocation mode. I don't know how to switch of vocation mode. Is it possible the thermal sensor is broken?
Can someone help?

Get a roller with a long stem. Then open door fully and clamp open. take off cable. unbolt botton bracket, insert roller into it and track, rebolt, reattach calble, that is it.
