Go to Settings > Do not disturb, check if this is enabled... you can also notice if it is enabled if you see a moon icon to the left of the battery icon...

Hope that helps

I think you have put your phone in do not disturb mode, if you are on iOS 7 then slide up the menu from the bottom and press the icon that looks like a half moon, that should solve it.

If the re-boot does not solve the problem, continue on down the list of directions.
1. Shut down all applications.
2. Turn off your iPhone.
3. Wait 10 to 15 seconds.
4. Turn on your iPhone.
If the re-boot does not correct the alert sounds problem, you will need to continue on down the instructions list.
After you re-boot your iPhone, Check the volume.
Use the + and - keys on the side to turn you volume all the way up.
5. Go to Settings > Notifications
6. Scroll down until you see Phone
7. Tap phone
You will see icons of 3 iPhones just below the heading that says ALERT STYLE, labeled None, Banners, and Alerts.
8. Tap the phone icon labeled "Alerts."
9. Find "Alert Sound" down toward the lower half of the page. (Just FYI my "Badge App Icon" is turned on, and under the very last section labeled "Alerts" at the bottom of the screen, "Show in Notification Center" and "Show on Lock Screen" are also turned.)
10. Tap "< Back" at the top of the screen.
11. Tap "Messages"
12. Check to see that the phone icon labeled Alerts is selected.
13. Check or choose an "Alert Sound"
14. Back out all the way to your home screen.
15. Double click on your home button, and swipe upward to close the Settings application.
If this does not solve your problem, you still have two more options: 1) Call your service provider and tell them about all your phone calls going straight to voice mail. and
2) Connect your iPhone to a computer and restore your iPhone.
I hope these steps work for you. It looks like a lot, but I tried to provide details as if you were new to the iPhone.

SOURCE: How to retrieve lost voice message on cell phone.

I called my voicemail today for that and there was an option at the beginning of the call to my voicemail. You have to call your phone number hit # or * then type in your 4 digit code. You know like back in the day with the other phones.

SOURCE: when they call me on my iphone 2g OS3s all calls

Basically, if this is the case you take your device back to the shop. If you need a solution before then though, search in google for 'iPhone firware 2g 2.2.2'. This firmware should support calls. Download the IPSW. Simply put you r phone into DFU mode (you can google how to do this). Then connect your phone to your PC. Then open iTunes. Click on the tab "*****'s Iphone". You should see the 'Restore' button. Click this WHILST HOLDING DOWN "SHIFT" (on the keyboard). Then a file browser should appear. Select the previously downloaded IPSW, and iTunes should do the rest. Simples :)

NEED TO SET UP MY VOICE MAIL

Hi,If your account is enabled for voice mail, you can receive voice messages in your Inbox and also in a text message on your mobile phone. Both the message in your Inbox and the text message will include a preview of the voice message in text.
How do I set up voice mail?

1. Go to https://outlook.com to sign in to your mailbox, go to Options > Voice Mail tab, and then click Set Up Now.
2. When you set up your voice mail:
* You'll register your mobile phone number.
* Text messaging is set up. You can choose to be notified in a text message that you have voice mail or have missed a call.
* Call forwarding is set up so that your mobile provider forwards calls you receive to your voice mail. So if you don't answer your phone, your phone is busy, or you're unreachable or unavailable, the caller will be sent to your voice mail. After your personal greeting is played, the caller can leave a voice message for you.
* You can test whether your voice mail has been set up correctly by dialing your mobile phone number from your mobile phone. This verifies that call forwarding is correctly set up with your mobile provider.

How do I change my voice mail after I've set it up?

After you've finished setting up voice mail, you may want to:

* Change the mobile provider's voice mail number so you can use the key your provider has reserved for accessing voice mail to access your voice mail. For details about how to do this, see Changing the Number You Call to Access Your Voice Mail.
* Create a contact on your mobile phone. For details about how to do this, see Create a Contact for Voice Mail.
* Assign a speed dial key to the contact you create for Outlook Web App voice mail. For details about how to do this, see Set Up Speed Dialing for Voice Mail.

What else do I need to know?

* The voice mail service is available only to certain customers in certain regions. If you can use voice mail, you'll see a welcome message in your Inbox telling you how to set up voice mail for your account.

Thanks for using fixya...

How do you block a number

as far as i know there is no way to block a specific phone number anyone cellphone...

or you can try this one

Some phones have an option called a rejection list. It would be under call settings if you have this option. You would simply add the number to the rejection list and the call wouldn’t go through. Actually the caller just goes straight to voice mail.
If you do not have the rejection list, then assign a silent ringtone to the person. That way the person calls, you won’t hear them calling. You can just ignore the call.
Maybe try this…text the person saying “Your messages have been blocked by (state your own number). Message 111.” The person will think you blocked their text messages. If they text again, reply with the same message.
You also change your number if you wish to go that far. You also tell the person that every call and text is now being forward to the police. That should hopefully scare them and then they would stop
