Replace window switch for 1997 el dorado

Test the MASTER switch at the drivers side. It seems to be a "wiring problem with the Master switch. The master switch is the switch that controls ALL the cars windows.

The passenger window switch gets both power and ground from the master switch. You have replaced the passenger side switch and it still had the same result and if the wiring is good from the master switch to the passenger side switch, then the only thing left would be the power window master switch. Check all wiring of the Master switch. That's the only thing that's left to do.

I am replacing the The entire switch unit on the LH driver,s side. The part costs 43.00 at Mach 5 auto. Initially, I took it apart , filed down the contacts and put it back together. This didn't work well. The parts are too small. Before replacing part, pop out the switch panel area. You may see some grime build- up, that can be cleaned off. Often times this is all you need to do.

Find the fuse box either under the hood or under the dashboard and pull off the cover. The fuse locations are either on the fuse plug in area or on the cover you just removed!

replace the pull down switch.

If the other windows are working you will have power to that window as they all are powered from the drivers door switch.

This is typical of cadillacs. They have problems with window motors. Yours has high resistance and is a sure precursor that it is going to fail soon. as it gets hotter the resistance goes up and is so high that your motor just wont work. To solve this problem you will have to replace the window motor.

northstar? is located on driverside wher the water pump is right infront of the radiator. it has 2 10mm bolts holding the thermostat in place. the engin coolant temp sensor is located on the driver side on the motor towards the fire wall

check to see if you have power to the window motor.. if so then the window motor is bad, if not the switch is bad...good luck keith...

Cable must of disconnected need to take door cover off and reconnect...

yes same fuse.it is most likley a window switch.remember that the pass window switch will not work if there is a problem with the master window switch on drivers door.
