Vizio VW32LF powers up no sound no picture unplug to turn off

The Visio logo on under the screen will light up when the TV is turned on. The remote and the button on the unit work for this. The screen is black and there is no sound. Tried a different TV wtih cable box and it works, so I know it it not a problem with the feed. To turn off the tv, you have to unplug it. It will not respond to the remote or the button on the unit.

I had the same problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound.

HOW I FIXED MINE: I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine.I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

Hello
I don't know have you done an all factory preset to this set, after replacing the main board. If you have already done it, and still you do not get a stady picture, firmware update may necessary. If you haven't done a factory reset till now do it.
From Menu, press 'Down" button to highlight "Reset All" setting selection.
Press "Right" button to reset the TV to its original factory settings. Once the adjustments are completed press the 'LAST" button repeatedly to exict the OSD completly. This does not reset the Parential Pasword set if any.
OK.

TV has no picture, no sound just the VIZIO logo light is on the screen.

Did you check out the power supply for proper operation since both the audio and video are gone? If PS is good then the problem may very well be on main board.

My Visio E371vl won't power on with remote. I changed batteries & even bought a universal remote & no power on. the new remote works on other Visio TVs. I can turn the tv on with manual controls.

Dear Anonymous,
  • Unplug the TV for 20 Minutes and plug it back.
  • If that does not work, the remote Sensor on your TV is defective.
  • Take it to a repair shop.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

VIZIO TV Black screen. Cannot turn off TV without unplugging.

I had a similar problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. I didnt hear an arcing sound though. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound. I would check the ceramic fuse first on the board that gets power from the plug.
