SOURCE: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 "access"

Hi Guys

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Both your camera`s lenses are faulty. It is a common problem found on the DSC-W range of cameras and therefore not to expensive to repair.

The lens unit is only available as a complete unit from Sony. Your best bet would be to contact the retailer where you bought it and ask him for the details for your nearest Sony Service centre. It needs to be a Authorised service centre as there are software and settings that must be done after a lens replacement.

In my experience repair cost will be between 40 and 60 % of the price you paid for the camera.

Sorry there really is not anything you can do yourselves to fix these problems.

Good luck

There is probably no user solution, it seems that optical lens block is wrong/damaged, the only solution is to replace it.

As soon as i turn it on it beeps and says turn the power off and on again the lens wont move in and out

I'm sorry that the camera display the eror: turn the power off and on again. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset. Refer the URL for the information to reset a Cyber-shot® digital still camera back to original factory settings:

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

When I turn the camera on it says access , the lens goes in and out then I get a beep and message reads turn the power off and on again. I've done this over and over again and it still won't work. ...

One thing to test before going to repair, make sure you are using a fully charged and correct battery for your camera.
If so, the camera will need repair. This is a common problem and can be fixed. Teleplan Camera Repair does a great job and their blog is also very informative.

Lens mechanism isn't good to work properly so camera shut down the power. Try to tap the lens/ camera while power up.
