Question about Homelite Garden

1 Answer

2 cycle barely runs on half choke

I have changed the fuel filter and fuel lines. Breather filter and plug are new as well. I have removed the exhaust, cleaned it chemically and torched it clean. I have inspected the unit for obstructions to the movement of the unit (anything to cause drag). I can not run it off choke (warm or cold) and as it warms, it wants to call it a day. I am lost and at this point, it is about to become yard waste. Any final suggestions?

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

When I move the choke to run the motor dies....even after 30 minutes of running.

No, but it sounds if the carb needs to be cleaned! Fresh fuel helps too. Check the spark plug and check the breather filter. Also you can crank the engine with the breather filter off and try to move the choke to run then. If it runs with the filter off then there is your problem! 1 question, has anyone try to work on it or adjust the carb in any way?

I can't get my blower to accelerate. It will only idol on full choke. If you pull trigger it bogs down. I replaced the fuel line and sprayed carb out.

Check the following, and then clean or replace:
  • Fuel Filter - Located INSIDE the Fuel Tank
  • Spark Plug
  • Spark Arrestor - at muffler
  • Carburetor - May need a rebuild kit
Watch this as well...

The fuel hose just throught the grommet comes from the pressure side of the primer bulb, it does not have to be very deep into the tank, it is just the return to tank hose, the hose kit withe grommet and filter is part no. 545081841

New poulan 2500 wont run well

Sounds like the fuel filter is particularly plugged. Maybe you had a little trash in your gas, or a bit of it was in the tank from manufacturing. Hopefully changing or blowing out the filter will help. That's the first thing I'd check.

Try fuel with 30% injector cleaner (or 25% auto transmission fluid) Something is clogging the fuel route.

check your fuel filter/gas line in tank you could have a crack in your line that in the fuel till it gets below half tank then sucks air through crack, It's a possibility, other than that, check your exhaust port, but sounds like a fuel problem check your fuel tank vent also to make sure it is venting. Good Luck

check your fuel filter in tank, these have a problem with the paint peeling off the inside of fuel tank so filter may be plugged. next I would remove and clean carb and check the fuel lines, also check the exhaust screen too

mine did the same, I found out that the high speed jet was clogged, I pulled the fuel line off the filtor(going to the carb), stuck the line into a mixture of half gas half carb cleaner, I fanned it up and in 2 or 3 minutes it started running well, hope this helps.

If the choke has an adjustment point, then adjust the choke to a good overall working powerband. If it still doesn't act correctly, look for vacuum leaks. If it is an option, you may want to install a manually operated choke lever.
