SOURCE: tiller will not keep running

Have you tried squirting gas into carburetor to see if it will keep running? If that keeps it running as long as you are squirting gas in it, your carb need to be cleaned out/repaired.

SOURCE: Tiller won't stay running sounds like restricted fuel flow to me, but explain "rebuilt the carb" so I can get an idea on what you did.

Though it sounds right off like you whooped it good and got the basics.

Right off, go back through the "system", check the fuel flow, check that spark on the plug. Eyeball for any loose wires (E.G., Kill Switch, etc.) that are grounding (you never know!)

Stick to KISS on this one, since it ran before the carb got bad and got rebuilt, it will be one of those things you replaced, rebuilt, or changed. Sometimes, it is the SMALLEST thing......

Try starter fluid in the chamber and see if it starts. If so, you may need to clean your carb.

My grandfather has a stihl mm55 tiller it will start and idol but when you give it throttle it dies can anyone tell me how to fix it it has set for last 2 years

Could be adjustment if it has a fuel adjustment screw or maybe it needs the carburettor cleaning out.

Was any original fuel drained and replaced with fresh fuel?

If there are any diaphragms in the carb they could have perished in those 2 years or become hard and inflexible.

Why won't my Stihl FC 55 edger run?

First remove the module and clean the mounting areas to be sure the module has a good ground. Leave the ground wire off the module and run the unit. If it runs fine then you will have to kill the motor by pulling the spark plug or choking it down. If it runs fine reattach the ground wire and run again. If ran good without wire but not with then the switch is bad. If wont run good either way then likely a module.

My mother-in-law put gasoline in the oil fill spout. tiller sat like this for 6 months. was not started. I have drained oil/gas, but still can't get to start

This is a new for me. I suspect that removing the spark plug to put a squirt or two of engine oil on top of piston to lubricate and raise the compression would be a good start. Insure that the spark plug is clean and dry and sparking when pulling the starter rope. Reinstall spark plug and try again. If no success remove air cleaner and with choke open and throttle open give a short squirt (1/2 second only) of ether in intake orfice and start right away. If engine wants to fire the carb. is plugged up with old fuel and will most likely need to be cleaned our rebuilt. Note: 6 months in storage with the fuel not drained or at least stabilized is a major cause of small engines that will not start.

It idles fine. When I press the throttle, it bogs down and stalls. I replaced the spark plug when this initially occurred.

The problem is that your carbeurator is gummed up. Get a can of carbeurator cleaner spray at any auto parts store. remove the air filter and put two squirts of cleaner into the air port hole. start it up. with the assistance of a helper, run it and squirt one squirt of cleaner at a time into the air hole until it no longer bogs down.

Stihl o66 excessive fuel (flooding)

carby needs clean and gasket kit when you have dried it out, when you go to start it take air cleaner off,no choke and only a small ammount of fuel in tank switch in on position then a squirt of aerostart straight in to the top of the carby and pull the rope no more than 3 times .should fire and with abit of luck will dislodge the bit of dirt stopping the fuel being closed off give it ago and let us know how you go

Mower ran fine but was outside for ayear covered now it will not

Leaving a mower outside for an extended period will often allow water to get inside the engine (even covered). Try removing the plug and drying out the cylinder (compressed air blown into the cylinder usually works.) With the plug still removed pull the cord a few times andf try to get the piston to stop on the bottom so you can blow out the entire empty cylinder. I usually then put a squirt of WD-40 in the cylinder (not too much) and pull the cord a few times....then reinstall the plug and fire it up.

If that doesn't do it, try the WD-40 in the muffler (a couple short squirts)...also make sure the air filter is clean and dry...I would try to start it without the filter installed to see if that is the problem (just don't allow it run more than a few seconds without the filter).
