I BOUGHT A NEW TRACFONE i WANT TO KEEP MY SAME PHONE NO FROM MY OLD TRACFONE. i HAVE TRIED TO ACTIVATE IT MANY TILME , i CAN'T GET TO ACTIVATE AND i KEEP CALLING THE NUMBER FOR THE PHONE AND ALL i GE

I CALL THE 800 NUMBER TO ACTIVATE THE NEW PHONE AND GAVE THEM THE OLD number to be transferred. the new phone hasnot started working I also wanted to transfer my minutes to this new phone. No matter what I have tried I can not get my phone to activate. Now I have no cell phone as the old one's number is goned

You normally can change Phone numbers and phones online but with your problem it might be past that contact customer service at 1-800-867-7183 it works for me 8:00 Am till Midnight

Call Tracfone and they can activate ,transfer your minutes and your number to your new phone. I had to do the same thing.

Scott, To transfer your number from your Old Service Provider to TracFone Wireless, you must ask TracFone to Port your existing telephone number. TracFone Wireless will process the request for you. During this process, your service with your current provider will be disconnected automatically and Activated with the new provider you have selected. There is no need for you to call your current provider to disconnect your service. During the Request process, you will still be able to place calls on your existing wireless telephone or wire line phone. You, however, will not be able to receive calls during the porting process.

How do Transfer data from my old tracfone?


Here is the information from the Tracfone website.

  • What is a phone transfer?A transfer is when you wish to transfer your phone number and minutes from one TracFone to another.
  • I just bought a new TracFone. How do I transfer my phone?
    In order to transfer your phone, go to the "Activate/Reactivate Phone" button on our website and then select the option that you need. You can also contact our Customer Care Center at 1-800-867-7183 so that a representative can transfer that information for you. Please note that when you complete a phone upgrade from a smartphone to a non-smartphone, you will not be able to transfer any remaining minutes in your account, so you will lose those minutes.
  • If I buy a new TracFone, can I transfer my remaining minutes and phone number to the new phone?
    Yes, you can transfer the minutes and phone number into your new TracFone by going to the TracFone main page and clicking on the "Activate/Reactivate Phone" button. Then, select the option that you need (phone, SIM, or Bring Your Own Phone CDMA). You can also contact our Customer Care Center at 1-800-867-7183 so that a representative can transfer that information for you. Please note that when you complete a phone upgrade from a smartphone to a non-smartphone, you will not be able to transfer any remaining minutes in your account, so you will lose those minutes.

Just bought a new smart phone. I have lots of time & minutes to transfer from old tracfone . Do I have to buy more to activate?


According to Tracfone's website:
If you're going from a basic phone(i.e. flip phone or candy bar phone) to a smart phone, you can't transfer any minutes. The same applies if the situation is reversed.

You log onto the Tracfone website, Click on the "activate phone" button, and enter the information prompted of you.

  • Click on the "Menu" button on your old TracFone. Click on the "PrePaid" section of your old TracFone and scroll to the "Serial Number" button. Click on "Serial Number". Type in the old phone serial number in the form on your computer screen. Type in your TracFone number. Click on the "Submit" button.
  • Click on the "Menu" button, then the "PrePaid" button and then scroll to "Code Entry Mode" and hit "Select."
  • Press the " * " key, then the " # " key and the numbers " 3 " and " 0 ", then press the "OK" button. Your phone screen should display "Parameter 30" and a number. Enter the number you see on your computer in the boxes labeled "Enter the code here" and "Confirm the code."
  • Press the "OK" button again on your old TracFone. Enter " *#0." Press the "OK" button. Your phone screen will display "Parameter 00" and then a number. Enter the number on your computer in the boxes labeled "Enter the code here" and "Confirm the code."
  • Press "OK" then "BACK" and then the red "END/POWER" button on your old phone to return to main "MENU."
  • Click the "YES" button to confirm the number of minutes and days available to transfer to your new TracFone.
  • Turn your new TracFone OFF and then ON again. You will have to wait for up to one hour for the minutes to transfer.

that has to be done by the tracphone company or the person selling you the phone . can not be done personally

I have a new tracfone. You sent. I cannot activate. Web site sends me in circles. Cannot reach your phone number. You said I could keep my phone number and my minutes would transfer. HELP!
