Question about Olympus SP800UZ Digital Camera
My parents bought it about 4 years ago. When we plug it in it acts like it's being charger but when we unplug it it refuses to turn on and acts like it is dead when it's not. We do have a new camera but I would like to fix it so we have an extra camera around. My mom says it acts like it has been dropped but its not. Any ideas would be great. Thank you.
As soon as the camera acts different form what you expect, you can "reset" any software problem, by switching off, removing the battery and memory card and then reinserting both and switching on again.
When you remove the battery, check it the contacts are clean and shiny. Do the came for the memory card. Use a bright light and eventually a magnifying glass to look in the camera, to the contacts there.
You can clean contacts with a dry cloth or cotton swabs. Never use anything sharp in or close to a camera.
If you have a multimeter, or know someone who has, you could try to measure the voltage of the battery, to make sure you still can trust it.
The LI-50B is a 3,7 Lithium Ion battery and should deliver 3,7 volt to the camera.
When you try to measure the voltage with a multimeter (Set it to DC), it should read at least 3,8 volt. If it is less, you can assume the battery won't work as soon as you put it in the camera.

Hi there i can 't get your these word." camera charger is blue, used battery and new,". Please let me know the battery is new or or its old? If its old then the battery life is finished. Thats why he can't store the power.

Hi, as per your information your camera 2 years old but not used much. You buy a new battery 1st time when you charged you see the gree light. But camera not working. When you try to charge the battery again you seen the red light. Its mean your charger have a problem. So what you do now? Ok try these.
Remove the power connection of the charger. then fixed the battery there slowly & properly. After that plug on the charger again. If the same thing happens then unplug the charger & plug in in different point. Then see what showing. If again red light then wait 1 hours and waiting for green signal. If there is no green signal showing then visit a service center with your charger. Tell them your problem. They will fixed the charger for you. Don't worry your camera is ok.
Your new battery or your charger one of then damaged. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.
