IBM T23 Freezes

Hi, I have a problem with my T23 freezing mainly as it is booting up or just after it has finished loading but not all the time.Other times it will boot up and run perfect. When it freezes I have no option but to disconnect the power.I am using Windows XP
I have tried the following : removed / replaced ram, hard drive (new),fresh clean install, registry cleaner all to no avail.
I am able to run in safe mode with no problems and after restarting computer runs fine for as long as it is used with no problems. Then if I shut down computer and start it back up it will freeze at the positions as explained above. I was wondering, is there a difference between restarting and shutting down that is causing this problem.
Thanks in advance for any assistance

Formatting ibmthinkpad 2647

Hi there,
Power on, when you see the IBM logo, press F12 once to load the boot menu options, provided that you already have an Operating System CD / DVD in the drive, which should allow you to format your HDD.

Freeze ibm r52 ot start up

Try going in through safe mode w/networking (hit F8 when its booting into Windows) and see if it freezes up there... if its freezing there well something si seriously wrong with the OS or the hardware is partially to blame. If it load properly in safe mode then it would be a matter of determining specifically which part of the boot is freezing (freezes on Win XP load scree, freezes on Welcome, freezes after login, etc). The more you narrow down the scope of the problem, the easier it will be to help you. Try safe mode and let me know if its better or still freezes when going in that way.

Hi,
Sounds like you need a soft or hard reset.
try unplugging the console from the mains for 5-10 minutes, then try turning on re-booting. remove any memory cards et,c. when you startup.

IBM Thinkpad T23 Won't Start

do you have a hard drive install??
laptop need a hard drive to start up. the one time start up you see before is just a accident.
as far as battery not charge, that is the porblem you run into, when you get laptop from ebay (taking chance).
you also need to download all of the drivers from IBM for the laptop.

T23 BIOS error code #05

are you getting a date & time error ?. you could always try just resetting the bios.... remove the bios battery AND the battery itself for about five minutes or so. install it all again and boot up.
