Try a full reboot. Power out and remove battery. If the cable from the trackpad is intact and connected there is not much else you can do economically as the fault could be the motherboard or the trackpad. In the meanwhile you can use an external mouse

I have a lifebook p-series p8020 keyboard not working. Touch pad works fine and if i hook up a mouse that works fine. I just wont let me type out anything. What do i do?

You could try resetting the BIOS first by pressing F1 or DEL on power up, if your KB allows it. This MAY re enable KB function.
BUT the chances are that the keyboard ribbon cable needs re-seating in it's socket. This is usually separate from the touch pad flexi cable.

I have an Acer Aspire 5517. Just the other day, my touchpad and keyboard stopped working. What do I do?

1 . Look for Fn function key - Most laptops have this special key Fn that is next to the Ctrl key on the keyboard. It should have a blue or green color, easy to find.

2 . Look for F1 to F12 functions keys, they are on the top row of the keypad. Look for one has an icon that looks like the touch pad, which is to control the touch pad of your laptop. It maybe F8 or F9 depends on each make of your laptop. These function keys also control the brightness, sound, wireless etc.

3 . Now hold down the Fn key and the F10 key to enable the touch pad, in this example, the Toshiba laptops. You press them again to disable it

4 . If none of the above works, plug in an USB mouse, then check into the Control Panel -> touch pad or mouse configurations. Also, check Device Manager if the touch pad driver is installed and working properly.

Thanks.Have a great day.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

I faced the same problem with my laptop and the fault was with the power adapter. I noticed that the cursor moved randomally only when the power adapter was plugged in. I got the adapter replaced and it is working fine since then.

Frozen touch mouse

Get your laptop utility CD/driver. Borrow a USB mouse and then you access the laptop driver so you can reinstall the touch pad. That should work (it worked for me).

Then before ejecting your utility disc/driver, you copy the touch pad folder and then paste it to your desktop so the next time you'll need to reinstall your touch pad, you can readily access it.

Mouse touch pad problem Lenovo Y410 model notebook

Just above my keyboard there is a little black strip with little lights.
they are control buttons and if you tap one of them it turns the touchpad off and on (so it's very easy to do accidentally).

If you look really closely at the strip in good light (or restart the laptop to see them flash on and off) you'll see that one looks like a touchpad crossed out. Just press this to get your touchpad back.

If it doesnt solve the problem, I have noticed that the touchpad can be knocked out by a Window Update of something called ideacom. If you believe this could be the problem please clarify.

Turn off your mouse pad and use a usb mouse. Sounds like your mouse pad is very sensitive. You can also go into your mouse properties and change the sensitivity.

I don't know if you mean that your cursor suddenly moves as you are typing? If so, it is likely your touch pad is too sensitive. I have a mouse w/mouse pad but never disabled the touch pad. So i disabled the touch pad and it solved it for me. If you want to be sure it is the touch pad being over sensitive, then type a paragraph but keep your fingers and palms far away from the touch pad. If the problem improves, like it did for me, then the touchpad is too sensitive. You can go into the settings for the touchpad to change the sensitivity setting to make it less senstive and see if that works and it does not then press Fn +F7 keys to disable the touchpad.
