How is it connected to the TV, have you checked the connection/cable to the tv (unless its connected through the aerial in which case it isn't that)

SOURCE: No Sound on RCA L46WD22

I own the L46WD22 for a few months and lost the sound and analog inputs, only HDMI worked, apparently this is a design flaw and they should have recalled all units. I didn't really needed the speakers because I have a sony receiver where I playback the sounds, but I decided to repair it myself after I neglected to take it out to the repair center and use the warranty. If you have a little soldering experience you can fix it, or you can buy the fuse and take it to any repair center, the problem is a surface mounted fuse that is located in the PCBA where all the signal inputs are, the component location is 1C33 the fuse has the letter F printed on it, you can't miss it, it's about 2 inches behind the tuner where you plug the coaxial cable. the fuse I bought it's marked with a G letter, it's 750mA, I just soldered it on top of the one it has, now I can hear the speaker and use the analog inputs (and now I'm the hero and have a very happy wife). the whole fix took me about two hours

Has a beautiful picture, but all of a sudden there is no sound. It was working one minute and the next it wasn't. I use the cable remote to operate the tv, not the tv remote. What should I do?

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. Restore sound on my Tv, suddenly lost.

  1. Check if the mute button on the cable box/TV/VCR is activated. If so, turn off the mute feature
  2. Verify the volume on the cable box/TV/VCR is not turned all the way down, either by adjusting the volume level on the equipment itself or with the remote control
  3. Check if the TV has an earphone or headphone jack. If so, make sure there are no earphones or headphones plugged into it
  4. Check if the Cable Box/TV/VCR has a SAP/MTS switch (Secondary Audio Program / Multichannel Television Sound). If so, make sure it is set to the proper setting. Consult your TV/VCR manufacturer's user manual for information for your specific TV/VCR. Click here for information on changing this setting on a Cable Box
  5. Check behind ALL TV and equipment (Cable box, TV, VCR, DVD, stereo receivers, etc) and the coax cable at the wall outlet for any loose or damaged connectors
  6. Make sure all equipment and connections are hooked up correctly for the video and audio based on the type of connections being utilized

KDL52W3000 sound was working fine, but suddenly the sound stopped working

On both the set and a box if used check for sound being all the way down, muted etc.

In the set check to see if speakers are for some reason switched OFF.

A few sets have options to select internal/external speakers also.

If sound and picture are coming from a box via cables to a rear input unplug the box-wait and power it up to see if box reboot will cure this.

Sets using a HDMI for picture/sound are prone to all kinds of audio problems especially if loss of power or hookup done with box and set on........

Look for the simple things first like do you have sound with a DVD etc--that means the problem in not likely to be in the set other than a wrong setting.

My htr-5850 just stopped producing sound while using the cable TV. I muted it once and when I took it off mute I have not been able to get the TV's sound to work since. I have no idea what to do. Any...

How is TV sound coming into your Yamaha? If it's from the TV analog audio then maybe the TV's audio output is muted.

If it's from the Cable Box maybe ITs audio is muted. I'd refer to the guide for the Cable Box.

MUTE on the receiver is not source-specific.

I have a SA 8300HD cable box connected to Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver using Digital Audio Out from cable box to DVR/VCR2 on the receiver. It had been working for 2 years. Then this past weekend it stopped...

Pretty good problem description.

Make sure the DVR/VCR2 digital input is assigned to the Cable box.

When the DVR/VCR2 input is selected do you get any front panel indicators on the Yamaha that indicate a good digital bitstream?

Try swapping the cable box output to the working DVD In connection to isolate it to either the source or the receiver's ability to decode it.

Check the audio output settings for the Cable Box, too. Sometimes their outputs are adjustable. It may be muted or set too low.

Volumn not working

WHen I hit the mute button again to bring up the volumn the sound remains muted. I have tried all other channels, direct cable and even a dvd player connected. No sound. I unplugged all the boxes and tv and then plugged in again in a attempt to reset what might be wrong. Still no sound. solution 1 while operation mute button has got demaged or pressed more. 2 sound section might have gone defective in tv 3 no supply to sound section 4 or speaker defective or ic got demaged.
