Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines
Good Afternoon Cloy,
I understand that you are getting a humming sound on your Frigidaire washer, and it will not start a cycle. I also see that you've checked the pump as well as the motor, and neither of those is making the humming sound. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your washer and determine what is causing your appliance to make that humming sound and not run a cycle. Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: Kenmore 80 series won't spin
If it is draining then the motor is turning the pump so it is ok.
This washer has no belt so that is not the problem.
Remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch wires and put into a spin. Watch the clutch to see if it is turning. If the clutch housing is not turning and you know for sure the coupler is not broken then you need a new transmission. If the clutch housing is turning but the basket is not spinning you have something binding the basket or you need a new basket drive and clutch.
If you have only looked at the coupler from underneath you may not be able to tell if it is broken in the center. If it is broken again your transmission is not staying in neutral drain until the water is drained. That means it is going into spin with full load of clothes and water. This puts a lot of pressure on the coupler and causes them to fail prematurely. If this is the case you will need a new transmission.
Post back if you have any questions.

You have a bad motor. ( very common) If you take your model number to a local used parts store you may be able to find a good used motor for cheap. If no luck finding a used one, Order it from sears. (the motor is deffinately your problem, I replace them all the time.)

Check your lid switch. Symptoms may include, no spinning, no agitation, stopping at the rinse cycle and no draining. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:
On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.
A replacement lid switch (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:
If the model number is correct, the part number for a replacement switch is 3949247. The average price is about $20 - $30. Prices differ between these sites, so shop and compare.
If the suggestions I have listed do not match your washer symptoms, please post back and elaborate more on what the washer is/is not doing so I can provide you with better assistance. Please include your model number (located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid) if its different than the one you listed the question under so that I may be able to assist you better. I hope this information is helpful to you.
NOTE: Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool so these instructions do apply. In addition, if the tub is full of water, and will not drain, you do not need to drain the tub to complete this repair.
