Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Cold water wash very slow fill up

My whirlpool washing machine takes a very long time to fill for a cold wash ( a few hours!) and it is frustrating. The hot washes are fast, the water comes out very fast and hot. Both valves are open. This started happening a few months ago. What is the problem?

Thanks for your help!

I unscrewed the hose and there was not a screen. So I'm assuming I need a valve?

    Thanks!

Hi, you have a blockage on the cold side of your inlet valve, take the hose off on cold side of the valve and inspect screen..You may find some debris. If no debris is found you may have a bad valve..your going to need to replace it...if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact

If you are looking into the valve from the rear of the washer and there is no screen yes i woulod say you need a new vale, they are pretty inexpecive and fairly easy to install, If you need further instruction on changing the valve please feel free to leave a comment and i will post the instructions for you by reply.

    Hope this helped you...Good luck.

Cold water runs slow

Turn the cold water off and remove the hose at the machine. You will find a screen located there and you will need to clean it out.

Turned on whirlpool duet washer, came back to FH as realized forgot to turn water on. Have tried all the suggestions, but each time I plug the machine it tries to drain water and the motor hums. I cannot...

Make sure both hot and cold water supplies are turned on. Select a cold wash cycle and start the wash cycle, do you get cold water? Now select a hot wash cycle and start the wash cycle, do you get hot water? If you only get cold water replace the hot water fill valve. If you only get hot water replace the cold water fill valve. If you get neither replace both fill valves.

Washer taking a long amount of time during cold wash and rinse cycle.

check the screen in the cold water entry these sometimes get clogged and cause the cold water to come in too slow and will take a long time to fill if sceen is clear a new water valve may be needed
