SOURCE: ballast

You haven't supplied a model number... Makes a big difference. Generally speaking though you pull off the bottom louvered section and it will be inside of a post where the condensing unit plugs in or mounted against the sidewall.

SOURCE: top coils don't get cold on a TDBD-72-4

Make sure the condenser is spotless. If it is suspect short of refrigerant.

Yes, I've seen the ballast bad after a lamp shorts out. It takes out a 1K resistor out in ballast. If original lamp blew up this could be your issue

Lights not working, and can't find the ballast location

The ballast is located down by the compressor if you take off the cover the ventilation slats. Then in the very center where there is a plug from the compressor plugged into the side of the center support as a cover on the front of that open the cover and inside you'll find The ballast.

Where do i find the starters for the florescent lights on a true gdm-72

They should be located under the front access cover below the door. Under that cover there may be another smaller covered box that they may be located in.Make sure you disconnect the power source before removing any covers.

Use of computer ups for lighting purpose

Hi,

To your concern of using a computer type UPS to power other devices:
  • If the light is incandescent type, yes;
  • If the light is florescent type, depends on the design. Some yes, some no. If the ballast is electronic, yes; if the ballast is inductive, no;
  • on the fan, no.
To my knowledge, most low-end commercial UPS produces a square wave. Only high end (expensive) models produces true Sine wave.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
