Question about Carrier Heating & Cooling
1999 Carrier Model 38BYCO48310 A/C Heat Pump; Totaline P27-1200. The display presents all the options on the screen simultaneously, then momentarily returns to the normal display, then E2, then back to all options (displays off, heat, cool, e heat.. fan is on and auto, the room temp is reading -HP, time 1888, all the days of the week, etc). I hear a distinct click sound at the thermostat as it flips between these three displays (all-options, normal view, E2). Came home to this, so that's all I have. The A/C isn't turning on as I would expect based on the programming, but I really cannot see the thermostat setting since none of the buttons seem to change the display. Any suggestions?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: My outdoor heat will not
you need to go oside and look for a red reset button on the unit. you tripped the high ressure switch when you let your filter get that dirty. go check on this and when your done if it still is not working then ask me more.

SOURCE: Heat pump cycling on and off.
It sounds as if you you have a low charge of refrigerant, r22. When the unit comes on outside, the outdoor coils become the lowside, there is a low pressure switch that is tripping out contactor protecting the compressor.

The thermostat would need to be insulated better from the air that is surrounding it. Im assuming that the thermostat is located on the wall unit where it blows out the air. This could mean that it is actually reading more from the outside temp, than whats inside the house. Another thing to consider is the location of the thermostat, even it being close to anything in the house that produces some kind of heat will effect the condition of the air. If anything, its the manufacturers mistake if it was properly installed in the first place and if defective, they should replace it. hope this helps.
