Got it. On the CD, go to AOESETUP.exe, click on properties, and go to Compatibility. Run it in compatibility for Windows 95. It shouldn't freeze after 100% anymore.

The possible cause may be the setup you are using is corrupt, To ensure the setup is good try installing it on some other machine if it works fine there, then there is an issue with your system.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

On my Dell Dimension 3000 using Win XP it refuses to install properly. Went to Canon Help Line but their ideas have not worked either. Changed USB leads and sockets - not working.

Canon Help Line couldnt fix the problem. I tried installing on another Dell 3000 with the same result - incomplete installation. This looked like a Dell problem - so I went to Dell web site and downloaded about 10 System updates, including a Flash Bios chip.
After re-booting I turned off all Anti-Virus and Firewall, and guess what? It loaded and installed like a dream.
Printer now working fine!

Wont load win xp on gx 260

Hi,
There are a number of reasons why XP won't install or hangs halfway through the install process.
The main culprits are bad sectors on the hard drive. Poorly seated or faulty system memory and of course scratched CD or a dirty optical lens.

You are going to have to go through this troubleshooting process to determine what the problem is and what you have to do to resolve the problem.

Start by cleaning the install disk and the optical lens, remove and clean the system memory and the slots, check the cables and then try to reinstall.

If you run into the same problem i would be suspecting the hard drive.
As far as i know Dell have their own utility.

Turn on the computer. When the DELL™ logo appears, press <F12> immediately. If you wait too long and the Microsoft® Windows® logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Windows desktop. Then shut down your computer and try again.

When the boot device list appears, highlight Diagnostics and press <Enter>.
If you don't have the Dell Diagnostics Utility on the computer then something like Hiren's boot CD will be able to check the drive for errors in the hard disk tools section.

Regards.

Try letting the Xp OS format the new HD. I am guessing you know already that the old HD has to be disconnected.

When i install age of empires, it installs to 100% and freezes.

Explore the disc, and on AOESETUP.exe, set the compatibility to Windows 95. It should install fully. Now, if only I could get my computer to stop with the BSOD when I exit the game..
