100 volts is too low to power the entire projection TV. Usually with rear projection TVs there are three tubes that create your picture on the screen. To power those tubes, they each require a high voltage (usually around 10,000 volts - yes ten thousand) that is produced by a high-voltage step-up transformer call a 'Tripler' - since it powers all three tubes. This device and the rest of the TV require full utility voltage (120 - 130 volts AC) to properly power the unit. Correct the voltage and try again - is the house / residence voltage like that in each room? IF so, you probably have other issues with devices you probably haven't picked up on.

I have a toshiba projection t.v. and while the is on the picture gose black you have no picture as if the t.v. was off but you still hear sound but it dosen't do this all the time and when it dose it...

This is probably a cold solder joint on the bottom of the chassis. I would look at the Vertical IC first, then Convergence IC's. Then look over the entire board.

My screen is cracked need to be replaced

Your set has 3 screens:
FA812 SuperShield is no longer available
23837472 Lenticular lens is no longer available
23837450 Fresnal lens is also not available.

Check with some of your local TV shops. You may find a non-working TV with good screens for sale.

Good luck

We have a Toshiba 52 inch TV, model # TP50G50, manafactor date on it is July 1997. The picture & the sound went out all at once, do you know if it's a fuse or something more serious? It's hard to haul...

It is a power supply fault. The power supply is a switched mode power supply and supplies 5 volts for the difital logic and high voltages for the high voltage parts of the tv relating to the screen display components. When the high voltage part of the circuit breaks or goes short circuit then the power supply shuts that part down leaving the low voltage rail of 5 volts..hence the standby still working. So... you need to be looking at the power supply board where the mains goes in but be aware of the mains voltages in this area if you arent experienced in electrics. The board will still hold 240v if the power supply has an open circuit load

Toshiba TP50G50 Theaterview picture is double with red color only

Your alignment is off. Go to the set up menu then convergence. hit right and you will be in the convergence menu. select the color that is not in alignment. The green line does not move. if blue and green are lined up the line will be cyan. if red and green are lined up the line will be yellow. when all three are lined up the color will be light. Best of luck!

1997 Toshiba 50 inch tv

Sounds as though you have a filter capacitor bad in the power supply. I strongly suggest you have it checked and repaired soon, before it burns up a transistor or regulator. The cost may be a bit high now, but will escalate to possibly a complete power supply board. If you can repair your own set, check the main power supply filter capacitors. Good luck. I hope this has helped.

Sounds as thought you have a dead B+ from the power supply board. Replacement of the board should be a certain fix. The power supply could be fixed with the help of a good service technician. I hope this has helped.

I doubt you blew the picture tube. I do think you damaged the main board ( power supply board). First I would suggest you check the fuses, in both the main board and also the convergence board ( there are two main boards in your set ). Before you start, always use caution by unplugging the set from the wall. To check the fuses, remove the bottom panel cover in the back of the set by removing the screws. Use a flashlight and observe all the fuses you can find and see if any are opened or burned out. ( if the fuse is burned out, it will be black, you may not be able to see if the fuse is just opened without using a continuity checker ( volt ohm meter ) ). Any fuses you find open or burned out, replace with a like fuse ( voltage and amperage ). The set should work fine if a fuse is the problem. If the set doesn't have a bad fuse or won't work after replacing a bad fuse, then you will probably have to seek professional help. Good luck. I hope this has helped.
