Never use force when connecting electronic apparatus. So don't try to force it in. Please try to lend a mini USB cable from someone, and look if that goes in without problem. As soon as that cable does not go in, look into the connector on the camera, if anything (pice of paper, dust) is in the connector. Then compare the connector on the camera and on the cable see if thee is a dent in one of them. Use a magnifying glass, because everything is very small.

Use lots of light, and compare other connectors to the ones you have. Dirt can be removed with a tooth pic, but NEVER, NEVER use force to remove anything. You can break contacts very easy. Good luck

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

I just got this camera and I can't figure out how to attach the included usb cable to the camera. Do I just put in in the AV/Out slot, or does this somehow open up to a slot that is a precise fit?

The USB cable goes into the connector inside the A/V OUT cover on the bottom of the camera.

You might want to NOT use the USB connection.

How to get pics off the sony cybershot 10.1 pixel camera - there is no usb port - and the sd card won't fit in my computer

Treat yourself to a mulicard reader. Ensure it reads the Sony memory stick your camera uses. It should come with a USB cable to connect the reader to your PC.

They're not terribly expensive, photo retailers or ebay should be able to supply.

Scrap the camera! Kodak hasn't and won't address the problem. Most picture download software won't recognize the camera. The only solution is to remove the memory card from the camera, put it in USB adapter and treat it like a flash drive. Cumbersome. Awkward. Stupid. After you scrap the ****, tell your friends so they don't make the mistake of buying a Kodak.

I have a Kodak M893-IS digital camera. Suddenly

You can try getting an SD card reader with a USB connection. The computer will treat this as another input. You should see a file folder with JPG files in it. This will be your pictures. Just do a "copy" to another file on your computer. Several companys make these card readers. 2 are Vargus and Lexar. I purchased one for my wife's camera the other day at Walmart. It was a "Targus High Speed SD/SDHC Card Reader/Writer". It was around $8.

Usb cord won't fit all of a sudden

Something could have broke off inside the connector. Try to look in side and see if there is anything blocking the connection. Tweezers can help out and pull out stuff that is blocking. Make sure that the camera is powered off. Better remove the battery to play it safe also. Check the condition of the USB cable that goes into the camera make sure it's not bent or dented. You can use a small needle nose pliers to fix that if it is.
