it probably is on the keyboard as small blue letters, which require that you hold the Fn key while pressing.

Spacebar not responding on Toshiba laptop Satellite

Since the spacebar is the most used key on the keyboard, it is likely a hardware failure of the spacebar itself. Replacement keyboards can be found on EBay and normally run about $20

Dell inspiron 1300 laptop

There are individual tiny switches under each letter. When the letter is pressed it sends an electrical signal to the keyboard controller and the CPU to register which key was pressed. Liquid under the keys will short out the switch so it does not send out the signal any longer. You need to get it repaired by the manufacturer or local PC repair shop.

HP Compaq NX960 Laptop Keyboard Problem

This is generally a sensitivity issue with the keyboard. It's usually caused when the rubber depressors that activate each key start getting worn. Sometimes you can take each key off individually, take off the rubber depressor and clean the contact point on the keyboard and up inside the depressor where it makes contact. Clean it with with rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. This is alot of work and only fixes the problem about 60% of the time. Your only other option is replacing the keyboard.
