Whay does my AIWA CA-DW63OU start playing by itself?

Was working fine until today - May 11, 2014...Then began to turn on by itself. Have had it for at least 10 years. Tried Power Resets, Reset to default (POWER + SQUARE button), reprogramming the clock, making sure no TIMER is programmed...Still turns itelf ON. Only way to shut it up is by removing the power cord, and re-inserting it when I want to play CD's...

We plugged the unit in to the wall. The clock is flashing and the timer clock showed up again. What to do next to take it off?

Are you sure it's not going into demo mode after you turn it off? Is there just lights and display flashing? - that is demo mode. Probably a button on the remote to turn it off.

Testimonial: "Checked per your recommendations - all is per normal - no DEMO mode. The AIWA still comes on by itself. Problem began to happen some 10+ years after having been perfect. You can see by the list of reported problems of this nature, herein, that the problem is well known and that there is no solution to it, since AIWA is no longer in existence (purchased by SONY years ago) and product is discontinued. What I will have to do is, insert an ON-OFF switch in-line with the Power plug, and shut the AIWA and turn it - by way of that ON-OFF switch, as the Stereo works perfect in every other aspect!"

Aiwa turntable px-e860: Hi, I've inherited this timetable from a friend and it's worked fine until recently but now here's the problem: if I push start, the arm lifts up, moves to the record...

Hi, I;m not familiar with that exact model however the problem you are describing is commonly caused by the automatic operation at some point not being allowed to complete its full operation. Ie the tonearm has been returned manually to its rest position before reaching the end of the record. Try this. With the player not powered up lift the tonearm across to the record run off groove and sit it there. You may feel some resistance which is normal as the mech has to eswt itself. Now turn on the power and turntable. The arm should automatically return from there to its rest. Try auto operation after that. Let me know how you go. Cheers John. styluscity@gmail.com

My AIWA turntable (1989 but still in excellent

Please try and lift the turn table off the casing itself (wheel only) and check if it is belt driven, or by gears. If it is belt driven, the belt might be worn or streched, and needs to be replaced

Will not turn on

With the power cord getting hot it sounds like there is something up with the power supply section. Perhaps a faulty transformer or something.

Tape decks playig too fast

Hi I can probably tell you what is wrong, but there is usually not much you can do except take it to a shop and have the motor replaced. I most cases there is a hole in the back of the cassette capstan drive motor, or on a small circuit board close to the motor where the speed is adjusted at the factory. You could possibly adjust the speed by ear until it sounded right playing a factory recorded tape with a song you know well, but I recommend these adjustments be left to a tech with a frequency counter. Also, these adjustments normally never need to be touched unless replacing a motor, so it is likely something internal has gone wrong with the motor, and it should be replaced under most circumstances. Hope this helps, Good Luck.
