SOURCE: No picture on lcd screen

I have the same problem but sadly no solution.

As my camera is still under warranty I took it back to Jessops.  The camera is now with Olympus for repair.  The technician in Jessops hazarded a guess that the problem is a broken processor sitting behind the lens and as such the problem is "really bad".

Here's hoping you are still under warranty.

SOURCE: write protect message appears on screen

Sounds as if the memory card may be corrupted. In order to remove the write protect, make sure you have downloaded and saved all of the images from the memory card to your computer and then having the card in the camera you will need to run the format option and this will permanently remove the write protect as well as all of the images from the card.
The card should be able to be used again after the write protect is removed.

SOURCE: picture screen

You can choose whether or not to display the picture you have just taken on
the monitor.
ON : The picture being recorded to the card is displayed. This is useful for
making a brief check of the picture you have just taken. You can
resume shooting anytime during REC VIEW.
OFF : The picture being recorded to the card is not displayed. This is
useful when you want to prepare for your next shot while the
previous picture is being recorded.
1 In the shooting mode top menu,
select MODE MENU

SOURCE: view finder is blocked by a screen that appears to

Look at page 16 of the user manual. You probably have the histogram set to display: it's a really useful tool when you learn how to use it which helps you to get the exposure levels as you want them instead of what the camera thinks you want.

To cancel the histogram (and alter how much other information is displayed) press the "DISP." (display) button located to the lower left of the thumbpad.

I hope that I've helped you; if so please let me know by rating my answer. If not, then post further comments to help identify the problem with reference to the user manual and I'll try again.

It is in the manual, under Changing the image information display.

When reviewing pictures, by pushing the arrow, a screen comes up over the picture, detailing Camera, date, time, etc. How do I make it go away and STAY away? If I hit the Enter button, it will go away,...

You cannot make it STAY AWAY. THat buttn, the multi-selector switch, is useful. If while viewing your shots it is pressed to the right, then the shot info comes up. Push it once back to the left and that info goes away. If pushed left once again, you get a histogram of the phoro. Push it once to the right and that histogram will go away. without the histogram or information on the screen, you are in normal viewing mode and pressing that multi0selector switch up or down will cycle through your photos.

RGB Histogram will not turn off.

It's not hard... I had the same problem, but I found this solution on the internet and it worked.
First turn on the camera and press the play button.
You are now viewing your picture with the histogram.
Use the same joystick looking kind of button that you use to scroll left and right through the pictures, but instead of going left and right, go UP OR DOWN. That scrolls through the different display settings.

Hope that helps!

Cant find self timer

On the back of the camera is a button near the right hand side ogf the LCD screen - this is the self timer button. Use the control dial to set it for 12sec or 2sec.

1 Press the shutter button all the way.
A picture is taken.
The focus and exposure are locked when
the shutter button is pressed halfway.
• When Y12S is selected: First, the selftimer
lamp lights up for approximately 10
seconds, then it blinks for approximately 2
seconds and the picture is taken.
When Y2S is selected: The self-timer lamp
lights up for approximately 2 seconds, then
the picture is taken.
To cancel the activated self-timer, press the button again.

This is a "histogram" showing you some information about the brightness levels of the photo. You can press the "DISP" button to toggle between three views -- full details(what you are seeing now), limited details, and no details.
