SOURCE: How do I clear misfeed.
In most cases where the machine says there is a jam, and there is no paper in the paper path, it's because the paper never got out of the paper drawer and didn't reach the 1st jam sensor. If you can open the machine and it resets, then chances are the paper feed roller is either slipping or in some cases not turning at all. If you can't clear the jam by turning off the machine, and back on, then you have a bad jam setect sensor or perhaps a small piece of paper lodged on the jam sensor. This will take some additional troubleshooting on your part. Need to know if the jam indicator goes away when you restart the machine. Let me know and I'll try to guide you from that point. There is a thin black plastic armature with a tiny flag on the end of it. that flag movement trips a switch everytime a copy passes over it. If this arm is not seated right, then the flag is not dropping between the switch and which is why the jam lite is staying on. if you open the right sided acess jam door and look straight in, down in the lower right corner you should see this small black box shaped switch, it has 2 thin white wires connected to it By removing the paper tray, you can reach in and try cleaning it with canned air if its not the arm and flag hung up, dust in it is causing the problem.

Found solution myself.. The paper sensor arm with flag and sensor was missing from the exit side located on the fuser assembly.. Customer apparently broke off prior to calling for us to repair. Solution-replaced fuser assembly clean and tested works great

I had the same problem with mine. Lift the top scanner, and check the hinges on the left. That error message means that the little black sensor on the left next to the hinges is not meeting flat with the unit when closed. Hold the sensor in for a few seconds, and your printer will start working properly.
