Question about HP Officejet 5510 All-In-One Thermal Printer

1 Answer

Hi my printer seems to have a problem with paper jams, I clear it press ok, it prints then when it is time to release the printed sheet it gets stuck, looks like the paper is not being completely released so when the cartridges want to slide accross and reset they are jammed by the sheet that has not been released and moved out of the way. Is there anything I can do?

Paper or specialty media misfeeds
These are possible solutions if paper or specialty media misfeeds or skews, or if multiple sheets feed or stick together.
Try one or more of the following:
Check paper condition

  • Use only new, unwrinkled paper.

Check paper loading

  • Load a smaller amount of paper into the printer.

  • Load paper with the print side facing you. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side, see the instructions that came with the paper.)

Remove each page as it is printed

  • Remove each page as it exits, and let it dry completely before stacking.

Adjust the paper guides

  • When using media less than 8.5 inches wide

  • To rest against the edges of the paper or media, making sure it does not buckle

A single sheet of paper has jamed, can not release it.

Clearing a paper jam

If the paper jams in the printer, follow the steps below to clear the jam:

Remove the paper stack from both paper trays.

Press the POWER button. Instead of turning off, the printer will try to eject the jammed sheet.

If the printer cannot eject the paper, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

NOTE: Do not press the POWER button again before unplugging the power cord.

Open the rear access door at the back of the printer. To do this, press the handle to the right and then pull out the door.

Remove the jammed paper. Make sure no small pieces or obstructions remain.

Reattach the rear access door and plug the power cord back into the printer.

The printer will turn on automatically and be ready for printing again.

Reload the paper in the IN tray.

Try printing again.

PAPER JAM. NO PAPER IN MACHINE BUT STILL GET PAPER JAM SIGNAL. OCCURRED IN MIDDLE OF PRINTING PG 2 OF 2 PG JOB. I CAREFULLY REMOVED THE HALF-PRINTED SHEET, PRESSED "OK" AND IMMEDIATELY GOT "PAPER JAM"...

the first step you should do is.
> unplug the power cable from the printer and then plug it back in.
> clean all the rollers which are there.. front rollers, adf rollers.. rollers at the back ..
> if does not work then. perform a reset.
( unplug the power cable from the printer while the printer is on. and after that press and hold the 6 and the # key on the printer. while holding and pressing down these keys plug in the power cable and wait fr 20 secs and then release the buttons.. )
this is a reset..
after this reset it will take few minutes to initialize.

These steps will possibly resolve the issue.. if not i must suggest to to get a new printer..

My CX4200 is printing very close to the left edge of the paper.

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
