If your phone is attached and that is what is showing, just clicking events under Library will do the trick. That will also take it out of Edit Photo. Not completely sure of your question, but there are settings / preferences under the the iPhoto menu.

Hope this helps.

Lost iPhoto when clean erase then mavericks, need download

Click the Apple icon on the top left of the toolbar at the very top of your computer screen. Select App Store. On top right of the window that opens there is a search box. Type in iPhoto. It will bring up search results iPhoto at the top left. It should either say Free or Install. Click on Free of Install. You will be prompted for your Apple AppStore password...this is the same password you used when setting up your main iCloud account. NOTE...Even if purchasing Free Apps you have to have a valid Credit Card on File.

If you have any more specific questions please let me know.

I want to use this as extra storage. How do I stop it from syncing up every time I go to iphoto?

Often, the problem is with the iPhoto image capture settings. To change these, open iPhoto, and click on "iPhoto" on the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on preferences, and select "No Application" from the dropdown menu, as shown. sammiller001_3.png

My iphoto icon on deck has a ciricle with a line though it which means no. I can not open iphoto. it states it could be damaged .

Hi there, there is a easy fix to this problem. What you are first wanting to do is to make a backup of your iPhoto library. The default place is User(Your Home Folder) / Pictures/ iPhoto Library. What you are going to want to do is right click the iPhoto library and select duplicate. Then just click and drag that new iPhoto library you just made to the desktop. Now what you want to do is to install iLife again. Just insert the iLife disk and follow the on screen instructions. Once that is done you should be able to open iPhoto again. If for some reason when you open iPhoto and your photos are not there, then close iPhoto and you want to place the new iPhoto Library that we put on the desktop into U ser(Your Home Folder) / Pictures/ Now drop the iPhoto Library and make sure that it is called iPhoto Library and not iPhoto Library Duplicate, if that is the case then right click the file name and click get info, then just rename it iPhoto Library. Now you are done, open iPhoto and you should have all your photos again.
If for some reason this still does not work, then once again close iPhoto, this time we are going to open it agin but while we open it we are going to hold the option key down too. A menu should pop-up asking you what library you would like to use, all you want to do is select the one that says is located in User(Your Home Folder) / Pictures/ iPhoto Library.

I hope this helps you, Justin

Facebook log in problem Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.

Thank you for visiting Fixya forums.

There are several reasons you may be getting this error code. Each will be suggested below:

Firewall

Change your firewall settings in the Security Preference Pane to 'Allow all incoming connections'. Check to make sure you don't have a firewall running that has stopped iPhoto from communicating with Facebook.

Cookies

This error code may be an issue with the cookie that Firefox or Safari uses to store the Exporter's login info. You need to delete the Facebook cookie called "isfbe". In Firefox you can do this by going to your preferences, clicking on "Privacy," then find the Show Cookies button. Find the one whose name contains the term "isfbe". Then click Delete Cookie.

For Safari you also go to preferences, but first click on "Security," then click Show Cookies and find the aforementioned cookie and delete it.

After this, just go back to the Facebook Exporter in iPhoto and login again, this time you will have no connection problem.

iPhoto

iPhoto, a problem lies in a conflict with the latest point update for iPhoto '08, version 7.1.3. Maybe it will work if you reinstall iPhoto, update to 7.1.2, copy the iPhoto application and rename it "iPhoto old," and then run Software Update and bring it up to date to get the bug fixes in the latest update for your main copy of iPhoto.

Note: I don't know if it will change the library format at all with 7.1.3.
The FAQ/support page for the Facebook Exporter for iPhoto is here: <http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=718>

1. Log out of Facebook through your web browser.
2. Go to Facebook Exporter for iPhoto, click Login.
3. This will open a Facebook login page in your web browser.
4. Log in but do not check "Save my login info..."
5. Go back to iPhoto, hit continue, and export your photos.

Sometimes an error message may still occur while uploading the photos, but retry and eventually it should work.

LittleSnitch

If you have Little Snatch running on your computer it may be blocking iPhoto from access port 80.

For some reason with the Facebook export it doesn't pop up and prompt you to allow access. Allow access in LittleSnitch my Facebook plugin for iPhoto may allow you to start connecting properly.

FULL Reset of Safari
You can remove all history, cache, cookies, etc.

Firefox History
If your browser is Firefox, clear history.

My iphoto has gone beserk. The little colored pinwheel goes round and round and I can do anything at all. I eventually have to forse quit or shut down to get out.

Take out the com.apple.iPhoto.plist out of the preferences folder and put it in the trash once iPhoto restarts the file will be recerated. You can find the file here

Macintosh HD/ Users/(your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist

Once you have taken out the file before starting iPhoto go to software update under the apple menu to ensure your machine is up to date. Hope this helps.

Lost iphoto back catalog after an import, is there anyway to recover these photos?

the back catalog of your images are not gone. Since the pictures you have uploaded form your camera to iPhoto all those files are still there. All you need to do is re-load the images into the library of iPhoto.
1) Start iPhoto, then in the menu goto File / Add to library..
2) Then a file browsing window will open, all you need to do is locate the folder in which u had specified to iPhoto. (Default location for iPhoto is located at MainHD / Users / Username / Pictures / iPhoto Library
3) Once you have located the folder or folders you wish to add to your library or catalog just press import. And all the images should show in the catalog.
4) if you have more pictures saved in another folder, then repeat steps 1 to 3 again. but in step 2 locate the folder or drive you wish to import from.

Getting a borderless print

Try this if that helps:

Using iPhoto to create borderless prints To use iPhoto to create borderless prints, please follow all of the steps below:

  2. Launch iPhoto.

  3. From iPhoto, select and open the image you wish to print. (Please refer to the Apple web site for instructions on how to use iPhoto.)

  4. When you are ready to make a print, select from the Menu Bar 'File: Page Setup'.

  5. The Page Setup dialog will appear.

  6. Select the following settings:

    1. Settings: Page Attribute
    2. Format for: <Select the Canon printer you wish to use>
    3. Paper Size: 4x6 (borderless)
    4. Orientation: <Select the matching orientation>
    5. Scale: <Select the appropriate scale>

  7. Select 'OK' and the Page Setup dialog will close.

  8. From iPhoto, from within the Constrain section of the browser window, select from the pull-down menu (i.e., the button directly above the Constrain label) either '4x6' or '4x6 Portrait'. Then, using your mouse cursor, mouse-over the image and when the Cross-Hairs are over the upper left-hand corner of the portion of the image you wish to print, click and drag from the left to the right in a downwardly diagonal motion, releasing the click at the end of the image selection.

  9. Click the 'Crop' button.

  10. From the Menu Bar, select 'File: Print', select your options, then select 'Print'.

  11. This selection, revealed in the iPhoto window will now print as a borderless, 4x6 print.

Photos in Mac's iPhoto will not print from the photo paper tray. They always print on paper in the main paper tray (this is on an HP C7280 printer). I had an HP Photosmart 8250 and it was the same with...

This is an older post, but it appeared to be unanswered. In iPhoto once a photo is selected, you hit "Print" at the bottom right. A preview screen with options comes up. Once the correct options there are chosen, you need to hit print again - but it does not print yet. Instead a second "Print" window opens. In the middle of this window there is an "iPhoto" button with arrow buttons on the right. The arrow buttons open a drop down menu. Choose "Paper/Paper Quality" from that menu, and it will give you a button for "Source." The arrow buttons on the right of the "Source" button allow you to choose "Photo Tray."
Once it's changed, you don't need to redo it each time you print an additional photo, since iPhoto reverts to "Last Used Settings." But as a shortcut for future sessions, you can save these settings using the "Preset" button located at the top of the second "Print" window (the window where the "iPhoto" button is located). I used "Photo Tray" in the description so it would be obvious, since I don't print pictures every day.

Mac Leopard OS: Can't print from photo tray

Here's the trick. It took me an hour to figure this puzzle out myself. DO NOT select the Print icon at the bottom of iPhoto. Do NOT select Print from the File menu. DO select EXPORT from the File menu. Select the HP Photosmart Mac tab Select HP Photosmart Print.app from the app selector. Click the Export button. HP Photosmart Print.app will load with a new print dialog box. Make all necessary selections. This is where you can select the Photo Tray as the tray for the printer to take paper from. This solved MY problem! Let us know if this helps you!
