DATA2 : NMEA PORT Problem

I have a NavNet VX2 C-Map NT Max, Type RDP-149. I have my AIS hooked into my Data2 NMEA port to show other vessels locations on my screen, however recently I have only been getting my own vessel on screen. The AIS is picking up other vessels ok. When i go to my Port Monitor on my Data2:NMEA Port i am getting data string coming in, which look like -

$PFEC,AIalt,V,V,V,V,V,V * 410
!AIVDO,I,I,,I>qc9wwp050oISEsROwPwwP000,0 * 32
$PFEC,AIttm,0,0,,,,,,,,,, * 75
!AIVDO,I,I,,,,I>qC9wwP050oISasR (......etc etc etc)

This indicates to me that i am getting AIS information coming into my NavNet however maybe i have something set wrong in my NavNet stopping the other vessels being displayed? Or the string i am getting isnt correct? The baud rates appear to be set ok. The set up had been working ok for a few months but has just recently stopped.

Has anyone any ideas to help me?

I am having a similar problem on my own system. Own ship is indicated,
the AIS is working just fine, but the display is not there, not even
when another ship is plain view.

The Navnet VX2 1920C includes the BBW GPS/WAAS receiver antenna and show highly accurate position data on your choice of C-Map NT MAX or Navionics Gold+ Cartography. This device fully supports C-Map NT MAX and Navionics Gold Chart SD Cards.

Ais and 1920c Furuno chart plotter

n the system setup, under “UNITS” I set BEARING to “MAG” (magnetic). This will cause the unit to display course / bearing information in relation to the Magnetic North and match magnetic compass readings. It is not the same as True North! One has to be careful with this setting. There are a number of areas where the earth's magnetic field is locally disturbed, sometimes very significantly. Your GPS may not account for it. - again, under “UNITS” I set “METRIC”.

My 1734c will not boot past the black disclaimer

This is a bit of bummer. Usually (and I hope in your case too) it is just a software problem. As a navnet is basically a computer this can happen. First I suggest you unplug everything except power and start it up, just to see if something on the network port isn't messing it around. If it still gets stuck take it to your local Radio Holland office or another furuno certified service outlet to reload the software.

How connect the nav net vx2 to autopilot simrad.what output port and colour cable

Get someone from a marine electronics company to do this for you. If you are unsure of the basics of what you need and you attempt to do this while going in blind, you may ruin your nmea ports on your navnet and autopilot. While I understand that you are trying to save $$$ by doing this, there's more to it than just wiring. There are port setups and nmea sentences to enable etc.

I can not seem to get a simrad ap 20 to recognize the nmea connection from the navnet vx2

you will have to designate which sentences to send to the AP20 from the navnet under port options. also make sure the AP20 is set to read the correct port to accept the information such as gps1 or 2 or nav1 or nav2
