Runs only if i squirt gas in carburator til it burns it off

That indication tells you there is now fuel getting to the carburettor check your fuel pump if it's mechanical type they do tend to fail after long service on the diaphragm they also have a gauze filter in them just remove the centre bolt to expos? if this is the old type, if it's an electric pump again these can fail after long service, al so check for fuel line blockages, or remove the carburettor and inspect the jets and blow out to make sure they are clear of any blockage.

Good Luck

Outboard troubleshooting. I have a 75 hp Mercury with 2 carbuerators. Serial # 6559142 it's around a 1989 model.. Problem= tank bubble pumps up tight...sits for a minute and gets soft...when I pump it up...

Sounds like the fuel pump isn't working, you can buy service kits though quite often corrosion will prevent you from removing the valves.. or it could simply be the fuel cap isn't venting, remove fuel cap and see if the engine continues to run!

No power when driving

Warm up the engine and spray carburator cleaner into the intake after the air filter. This will remove the carbon from the engine. You might have carbon on the rings too. This is a bit more involved. You have to remove spark plugs and squirt some solvent down into the cylinders and let it sit overnight.

I have a Troy Bilt Horse tiller. Upon removing the bowl on the carburator, I found no gas in it. I think the fuel line is clogged. How shoud I fix this so it will start again?

Old gas in tillers is always corroding the inside of the steel tank and the steel lines, clogging both the lines and filter and inlet at the top of the glass bowl. You can fix it by removing the tank and putting in some gas, some small stones and swishing them around to knock off all the rust scale, then replacing the steel lines with high temperature silicone fuel lines as used by radio control models for nitromethane motors. A new filter and a plastic gas tank avoid a lot of this rust clogging if you can get one to fit. If the rust has been sucked into the carb jet, use a bic pen tube with the refill removed and a small length of rubber hose to blow that out too. A good trick for small engines is to get a super tiny squirt bottle, remove the spark plug and squirt the electrode with gas. Replace and you will get about three revolutions of "firing" no matter what the condition of the carburator is.

Toro lawn mower wont start (super RECYCLER)1998 module. I have changed spark plug and air filter.have been using fresh gas from start of season. any thoughts of what my next step should be

Hi. Get a can of starter fluid from your local auto parts store and a helper. Squirt a little into the air intake, start it and have your helper continue to squirt more fluid to keep it running until you clean the gunk from your carburator. J.

Gas peculating in carburator and running into motor.

there is exhaust that runs from head to head under carburetor . there should be a damper that opens when cold and closes when hot . when it stays open after motor reaches operating temperature gas in bowl boils and gas is a vapor instead of a mist and causes motor to run lean .

1970 ford f100 It seems the carburator is not getting any gas what should I do? the carburator was rebuilt a couple of years ago and just has ran right since.

did you overhaul it your self? i need more information to help you solve this problem. take off the air cleaner and look down the carb. move the throttle linkage by hand and you should see a squirt of gas. if not your not getting fuel or have a bad accelerator pump. also check your idle mixture screws on the front of your carb. screw them in all the way ( count the turns ). then back them out again. it should be one and a half to two and a half turns out. good luck!
