SOURCE: beater brush does not rotate

i had the same problem, but was able to fix it by opening the brush compartment and cleaning the brushes, then separating the brush head from the body of the vacuum and hitting the reset button at the top of the brush compartment (per dyson online instructions). Works perfectly now.

SOURCE: beater brush won't spin but belt is intact and ok.

For your beater brush to spin, you have to meet two conditions:
1) the vacuum cleaner has to be reclined (put your foot on the front and pull back on the handle).
2) The clutch actuator (the dial where you switch between BEAR FLOORS and CARPETS needs to be set to CARPETS).

If the brushbar/beater bar still doesn't spin after that, call the Dyson helpline, they will assist you. If you are saying that the brushbar isn't spinning because it is not picking up any dirt, you may have a loose internal hose, a blockage in the machine or the bristles on the brushbar are worn. Call the Dyson helpline for assistance.

SOURCE: beater brush does not work. Brush is clean and

Even though the belt may not be broken it might be stretched and if that is the case it will not turn the brush. You can get replacement belts here:

My XV 11 Vacuum keeps on bringing up the message " My vacuum is stuck"

This message generally means that the beater/brush bar is not turning. Try rotating the beater/brush bar manually to see if it can turn freely. If not, you will need to remove the beater/brush bar and ensure that it is clean; that the orange end caps on the brush are free of hair and dirt, and that the bar housing area is free of obstructions.

Note, when I said "beater/brush", it could be either/or, depending on whether you're using the "standard" beater bar, or the upgraded pet brush.

Our vaccum cleaner does not clean up.

If the floor unit is not picking up, check for a broken belt for the beater brush or for a frozen beater brush. Might be a good idea to remove the beater brush and clean it of any debris and squirt some WD40 on the two end pieces that hold the beater brush to the vacuum itself. Turn the brush by hand to be sure it is free and reassemble. Make sure the belt is properly attached so it moves the brush in the correct direction.
If you find this to be helpful, I would appreciate you providing me with a thumbs up rating. Thank you. Paul

Beater bar not working. suction not working

Check for a broken beater brush belt. Clean the beater brush, clear of all debris and add some WD40 at each end where the rubber holders are. Turn beater brush by hand to work the WD40 into the axle. Reassemble making sure the belt is on correctly. This should also help solve the suction problem as well.

The belt keeps breaking. Like it's burning through.

Sounds like the beater brush the belt is supposed to turn has frozen up due to debris. Remove the brush and clean all debris. At the ends of the brush will be two fasteners that hold the brush in place, be sure all debris is cleaned from these and add a small amount of WD40 where the beater brush fits into these two small holders. Turn the beater brush around these holders by hand to be sure it moves freely. Reassemble with new belt.

I have a bissell easy vac and the metal part that spins the rubberband and brush keeps overheating and burning all the belts I replace. What should I do?

Sounds like the beater brush is frozen and won't turn. Remove the beater brush and clean off all debris, especially at both ends. You will find a square(?) piece at each end of the beater brush that holds it in place. This need to turn freely. Put a little WD40 on these where the center rod of the beater brush enters the small holders and turn by hand until they turn freely. Once this is done, assemble with new belt, making sure the belt is put on properly. If the belt is missing and you need to replace, I would still do the cleaning on the beater brush. It should move freely when you turn it by hand.

Sounds like a broken belt may have been pulled up into the machine. Plan on replacing the belt and cleaning the beater brush. Vacuum turns on but the brush is not rotating

Most likely a problem with the drive belt or the beater brush. Either the drive belt is broken or the beater brush is frozen due to debris. If you can not turn the beater brush by hand, it should be removed and cleaned well. The ends of the beater brush that hold it into the vacuum should be lubricated with some WD40 and moved by hand until they are free. Once the turn freely, replace the beater brush. If the drive belt is broken or missing, it needs to be replaced.

Beater does not work.

Not knowing what type of vacuum you have does not make it easy. However, usually caused by a broken belt or the fact that the beater brush is bound up by debris either being on the beater or having accumulated at the ends of the beater where the brush is supposed to spin on the end plates. After checking the belt I would remove the beater brush, clean it very good and put some WD40 on the ends of the axle of the beater brush and make sure it spins freely on the holding plates.

I can not get the new belt to rotate on my vaccum. The roller will not turn when it is put back in place. Any suggestions?

If by roller you mean the beater brush that the belt is attached to, you might try taking the beater brush out of the unit and clean both ends. There should be some kind of plastic or rubber holders on each end of the beater brush. The brush itself is supported by these holders, but the brush needs to be able to rotate in the holders. Sometimes they get gummed up and need to be cleaned in order for the brush to turn freely. Clean them up, apply some WD40 and make sure the belt is properly attached. Hope this helps.
