My answer, when dividing, keeps coming up with a fraction. For example, I put in 43/200 and it gives me 43 over 200, which is of no use what so ever. Thanks!

SOURCE: How do I get decimal answers

I had the same problem. To change the output to decimals, do the following:

Go to Math mode, then SHIFT, MODE (set-up), 2 (lineIO). This will cause answers to show in decimal format. I hope this helps.

I was able to find a manual at: http://www.generalmanual.com/Calculators/Casio-FX-300ES-Scientific-Financial-Calculator.htm

SOURCE: When I divide answers are always given in Fractions. Can I change it to come out in decimals?

To change from Fraction display to Decimal display on the Casio fx-300ES (and probably other calculators)

1) Press the "SHIFT" button

2) Press the "MODE/SETUP" button

3) Press the "2" button

This Changes it to LINEIO (Decimal)

Doing all of the above but pressing the "1" button instead of the "2" puts it back into MATHIO mode (Fraction)

Hope this Helps

Hello,

Generally, MathIO gives results in fractions or radicals.** But sometimes it does not.** I tried multiplying or dividing fractions or radicals by integer numbers, and once in while I got a decimal result and was unable to cast it into a fraction or a radical. I was not able to find the pattern.

In lineIO you only get decimal results.

What can one tell you that you cannot determine for yourself? If you appreciate the functionalities of the MathIO, it seems like an insignificant price to pay to press ONE button to switch between displays. It needs to be done ONLY once, for the last result one wants to record.

Your calculator, Your rules. But sometimes one cannot eat the cake and have it too.

- If a fraction (or a radical) is already displayed press the [S<=>D] key to convert it into a decimal number.
- If you are entering an expression and want its result displayed as a decimal number, press the [SHIFT][=] key sequence instead of just [=].
- More permanent solution: If you do not want fractions nor radicals, configure the Input/Output to be LineIO. To do that, press [SHIFT][MODE] to access the (SETUP) then select the option [2:LineIO]
