You must close the hole otherwise you will always see the frost.Humid air comes from outside and creates the frost.Change the door gasket.Be sure it seals good.

Freezer /fridge water/ice in fridge

Usually due to CONDENSATION due to bad door seals or a plugged evaporator drain line? Can use a soft flexable tubing and very hot water to clean it out. Bad door seals usually need replacement, but u can use a blow dryer and something to pry it closer to the door wall while blowing hot air on to it. To create a seal, to test for bad door seals place a dollar bill in between the door and wall of fridge where it closes. Then slide out the dollar bill with door closed. It should offer some resistance and not be easy to pull out.
Most all fridges have a drain. Look inside your fridge for a "V" shaped channel with a small hole. This hole leads to a tube and a small pan which sits on top of your refrigerator's compressor. The defrost cycle causes water to run into the channel, down the tube, and then it generally evaporates with the heat of the hot condenser/compressor.
However, if that tube is clogged with food crumbs, particles , debris etc, you will have to clear it to get back to a normal mode of operation. A toothpick, pipecleaner, straw or a cotton bud can often do the trick.
Even a frost free freezer will still ice up at times in the areas away from the heated defrost area and the drain line can freeze. This icing causes the pipe work to the compressor to ice over or sweat and cause a puddle. Or if the drainage has frozen over, it will need to be de-iced.
Give the freezer a good overnight defrost until it's totally clear of ice in addition to making sure the drain is clear to the pan at the back and then restart the freezer.

The frost free freezer has started to form ice

First point of investigation, is to check the door seal. Sometimes new seals get stuck-suction and when opened and shut possibly cause a small tear, lubricate very gently with Vaseline, this will enable the seal to firstly seal properly and secondly not put undue pressure due to suction on new door seals.
If that does not resolve it then have a technician check the thermostat.

Why does water freeze on bottom of freezer

Short answer: Because it's cold. It's what freezers do.

The long answer requires you to describe a bit more about what you've got and what is happening. What model freezer do you have? Is it a frost-free, or manual defrost? How old is it? Does it have a built-in icemaker?

Possibilities:
1) Your freezer is leaking some water from the ice maker or possibly the through-the-door water connections.
2) Your door gasket is no longer sealing, and humid air is getting in to the freezer, where the water condenses out and falls to the bottom of the freezer, creating ice. Make sure the door closes completely, that nothing stops it from closing, and that the gasket is tight; put a crisp dollar bill between the unit and the door gasket, and see if you can easily slide it around. If so, you need a new gasket.
3) Or, you may have a frost-free model and the hole where the water from the defrost cycle is supposed to drain is clogged. Pull things out of the bottom of the freezer, melt the ice, and see if there's a small hole. If so, make sure it's clear and clean; use a small brush, not anything sharp or abrasive.

Freezer defrost working but leeks

Hey friend, I appreciate the post!

I understand that your refrigerator is defrosting but you are getting a patch of ice to form due to water leaking inside the freezer. It may be a moisture build up in your freezer. Which may be caused by the door being slightly opened, when that happens warm air can enter the refrigerator and cause a moisture build up. You could also check to see if your door seal is bad, the way to test that is to place a dollar bill between the body of the refrigerator and close to the door. Pull the dollar bill out, if it sticks it is good, but if bill comes out easily the gasket need to be checked. Hope this is helpful- Matt

Amana freezer forms ice on the bottom. We have taken it apart, cleared ice from coils and drain, turned down freezer temp, but it still happens. Fridge works fine. Any other ideas?

When you see that ice forms on the bottom of your freezer it is most likely means that the drain hose of the fridge is blocked.
You will need to take the panel inside the freezer off, clear all the ice and pour hot water into the drain hole until you hear the water coming out at the beck where the compressor is located.
The next step would be running a 1/4" hose thru that hole.
Good luck.

More then likely you have a clogged drain. This is a pain to get to, like most bottom freezer models. You will have to remove everything out of the freezer, remove the door and racks to access the rear freezer panel. Once you get there remove it. You will probably see solid ice forming below the evaporator coil. This is ice from the unit going into a defrost cycle like it should. That is not a problem. The problem is when the ice melts and turns to water it is suppose to drain threw a hole located right below the evaporator in the center. If you have a sheet of ice formed you will need to defrost it to get to the drain hole. You can use hot water. In the industry we de-ice the drain with hot water and then blow it out with a CO2 tank(compressed air tank). This is not my favorite job because it is messy and sometimes long. That ice does not melt fast. Any questions for me go to refrigerator repair and email me anytime.

There is layer of ice that has formed at the bottom of the freezer side. Due to this there is a leak of water that appears every two or three days. I cleaned the layer of ice once and after 2 or 3 weeks...

Sounds like the drainage hole is blocked with ice, i normally take the back cover off the freezer and at the bottom you will see a build up of ice at the bottom, turn freezer off and carefully remove as much ice as you can, then pour some boiling water over the excess ice and in the middle you will see a drain hole make sure water then freely flows down drain hole. Other than that you could try switching your freezer off for 24 hours to clear ice.

My ice maker quit making ice on my amana bottom freezer

Hi, If your ice maker has stopped making ice then you need to check these things.
The lever that controls the ice maker has been pushed up which turns it off. If you have a red lever, pull it down to the wire and if you just have a wire then just pull down the wire to start your ice maker up.
Make sure the freezer temperature is below 10 degrees F If the freezer is too warm ice production will be poor because the ice maker will not cycle properly.
The ice maker fill tube may have ice formed in it, blocking it. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Watch out for the plastic parts, so that you do not melt the plastic. Also check the water inlet valve and the shut off valve, to make sure it is not plugged with debris. The openings in those valves are very small.
Check the gears in the ice makers to see if they are broken or stripped. Also look to see if the ice rake is broken. All parts in the ice maker are replaceable individually, If you find broken parts replace them.

Take care
